Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services (IIS) Field Engineering is seeking a Senior Technical Support Engineer II to provide expert level Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) engineering and technical support services to the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Fleet Support Team (FST) on the F/A-18 APG-65 and APG-73 RADAR Systems at Naval Air Station (NAS) in Lemoore, CA. This engineer shall advise and mentor our customers and end users on the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repairs of the F/A-18 APG-65 and APG-73 RADAR systems. This engineer shall also be responsible to analyze equipment failures to determine root cause and recommend corrective action. This position is based out of NAS Lemoore, CA and may require some travel on a limited basis.
Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following:
Provide APG-65 & APG-73 training to all squadron maintainers and aircrew as needed.
Perform continuous trend analysis in an effort to capture software/hardware faults.
Work to improve APG-65 & APG-73 troubleshooting techniques.
Report all technical activity and participate in evaluation teleconferences weekly.
Collaborate with government agencies and other contractors to maintain good communication in support of APG-65 & APG-73 radar.
Must have at least six (6) years of related maintenance, technical support, and/or repair experience of RADAR Equipment.
The ability to analyze faults and oversee the troubleshooting and maintenance of the F/A-18 RADAR systems.
The ability to effectively test, analyze, troubleshoot software and hardware, develop testing criteria, and evaluate complex electrical, electronic and mechanical systems, subsystems, modules, components, test stations, test fixtures and test software.
The ability to provide engineering and technical support services for repair of RADAR systems.
The ability to provide day-to-day technical support and work the required shifts to meet the squadron maintenance schedules, with the ability to function under operational pressures to meet flight schedules and operational requirements.
Have a proven background in various Automated Test Equipment (ATE), as well digital, analog, and Radio Frequency (RF) theory and applications.
Provide recommendations on how to improve repair efforts and maximize productivity and cost savings.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S SECRET Clearance.
Possess the test equipment expertise that is essential to effectively operate the APG-73 Integrated Test bench (ITB); also known as "spreadbench," for the testing and troubleshooting of the APG-73 RADAR systems.
The ability to provide training related to the APG-65 & APG-73 Radar systems to military personnel on topics to include, but not limited to Theory of operation, WRA and SRA test diagnostics, Fault and ATE (USN/USMC) troubleshooting logic, OFP BIT and calibration table interpretation, Engineering Investigation data elements necessary for corrective actions, etc.
Have a comprehensive understanding of APG-65 & APG-73 repair as well as the ability to analyze and recommend procedures which will, in turn, increase the effectiveness of the repair center's contribution to the overall F/A-18 RADAR repair strategy.
Previous experience as a field representative in support of US Navy systems.
Be a self-motivated and have the ability to perform with limited supervision.
Understand Military (preferably Navy) customs and courtesies.
Required Education (including Major):
May require working in a hazardous area while providing Radar technical support.
Shall provide support to NAS Lemoore, CA active squadron operations in hazardous avionics areas.
