Sr. Tax Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS-
Manage and review the consolidated quarterly and annual tax provisions under ASC 740, including the worldwide effective tax rate, deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowances, and tax footnote
Manage effective accounting controls within the tax function
Communicate with internal and external auditors and reviewers regarding tax matters
Manage process improvement projects and leverage tax technology to increase efficiencies, including automation and technology initiatives to transform existing tax functions in anticipation of the changing tax reporting and compliance landscape
Stay informed regarding new and proposed tax legislation potentially impacting the Company
Manage responses to US federal and state tax audits
Manage the activities of the Tax Department in carrying out all functions necessary for the accurate, and efficient completion of all compliance and reporting required from the department
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES-
JOB REQUIREMENTS-
Prepare and review the year-end and quarterly corporate income tax provisions per ASC 740, which includes ASC 718 stock-based compensation, ASC 805 acquisition accounting, and ASC 740-10 reserve calculation leveraging tax advisors for year-end
Understanding of common US tax adjustments and the calculation of deferred tax assets and liabilities
Understanding of principles of state income tax adjustments and apportionment
Manage and oversee the global income tax compliance process, reviewing international and US income tax returns at the federal and state levels.
Write and review tax technical memos addressing tax issues internally and externally.
Prepare and/or manage multi-year forecasted tax provisions, including Pillar 2, to support FP&A and budgeting
Provide guidance and support in negotiating and resolving tax audit disputes with tax authorities
Work with the tax automation team on the ongoing efforts to automate and optimize the tax compliance and quarterly tax provision processes
Manage relationships with external consultants and other stakeholders as necessary
Drive and be involved in global projects and interact with cross-functional teams within the organization
Supervise, train, and mentor newcomers and analysts
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE-
Bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax is required
A combination of 12 or more years of experience in a Big 4 accounting firm and in-house experience at a large multinational corporation is required
CPA or EA is required
ASC 740 accounting for income taxes knowledge and experience is required
Experience in preparing and reviewing tax provisions for a multi-national company
Experience in preparing and reviewing federal and state tax return workpapers
Experience in Point of Sale (POS), e-commerce, and wholesale industry is a plus
Experience working with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders with the mission of having the company's best interest first is required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team is required
A strong interest in technology and its use in business processes is required.
Experience with ERPs (Oracle Financials is a plus)
Experience with provision tools (Oracle TRCS is a plus)
Experience in analyzing complex tax issues and developing effective solutions
Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
$160K-$210K
