Position: Senior Tax Analyst

  • Transaction Tax Audits

Reports To: Senior Tax Manager

  • Compliance and Audits

This position is primarily responsible for transaction (indirect) tax audit support which requires an ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where attention to detail, analytical skills, and strong communication skills are essential. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to interacting with internal tax and accounting personnel throughout the organization, tax research, process improvements, tax notice resolution, and special projects as assigned

Responsibilities:

  • Support management with state and local tax audits including information gathering, data analysis, implementation of system changes resulting from audit findings, and responding to and resolving state and local tax inquiries

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers

  • Communicate routinely with tax management and business units regarding the status of audits, tax issues, potential liabilities, and trends that may affect the profitability of the business

  • Draft filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies

  • Research and interpret state and local statutes, regulations, policies, court cases, etc., and monitor changes for various fact patterns

  • Draft technical memoranda regarding state and local tax questions or issues

  • Develop and implement process improvements, while providing guidance and support to business units

  • Support sales tax recovery projects identified either internally or with assistance of external tax advisors or vendors

  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree Accounting

Preferred Qualifications

Other Qualifications:

  • 3+ years related work experience, public accounting or tax audit experience preferred

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

  • Ambitious and self-motivated

  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize accounting and enterprise software applications

  • Excellent time management skills to meet strict deadlines and produce quality work under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with internal managers and peers as well as state auditors and tax consultants

  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills

  • Ability to work successfully in both an autonomous and team environment

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
