We are one of a few lithium compound producers with global manufacturing capabilities, and do business in the United States, China, the United Kingdom, India and South America.


Livent Corporation has an opening for a Sr. Tax Accountant to drive accurate financial reporting and compliance for Livent 's Global operations. The Sr. Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting with all aspects of income tax accounting, compliance and reporting. The responsibilities also include supporting the tax management with tax planning projects

Key areas of focus of this role include:

  • Preparing and assisting with the preparation of the global consolidating income tax provision and related financial statement disclosures

  • Assisting with the submission and review of quarterly and year-end tax packages from international operations and related service delivery

  • Interacting with Livent finance organization to ensure accurate tax forecasting and tax accounting analysis

  • Interacting with a diverse team of external service providers to ensure timely and accurate compliance filings in all jurisdictions where Livent operates

To operate in this function successfully, the position requires an individual with experience in income tax accounting, compliance, and exposure to tax planning (ideally with a publicly traded global corporate enterprise).


  • Prepare and Assist with the preparation of the global consolidating income tax provision, including tax footnote disclosures to be included in the Company's SEC filings, account reconciliations/analyses and journal entries

  • This role involves consolidating income tax results for a publicly traded multinational US Corporation quarterly and annually under ASC 740 for US GAAP 10Q and 10K reporting purposes

  • Assist with the preparation of calculations of the quarterly and annual global effective tax rate for actuals, budget and forecast by legal entity and in consolidation

  • Review International entity reporting packages and related tax account reconciliation and true-ups

  • Assist with the domestic tax compliance function by liaising with Livent Finance teams and Livent's compliance service providers to ensure the timely and accurate submission of all domestic tax filings and reviewing related work products

  • Monitor foreign tax compliance progress and assist in resolving issues as needed

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls (tax-specific and other) and liaise with Internal Audit as needed

  • Partner with Finance and IT to establish and consistently improve data-gathering processes

  • Ensure continuous refinement and improve procedures, workpapers and documentation to maximize efficiency, accuracy and audit support

  • Remain informed with respect to tax law developments and documents impacting on the Company

  • Liaise with Livent internal finance teams and Livent's external compliance service providers to ensure the timely and accurate submission of all tax filings (gather information, review prepared federal and state calculations and returns, etc.)

  • Assist with other projects and initiatives and related service delivery as warranted

  • Work with peers to maintain a positive professional team atmosphere

Required Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field of study

  • The role requires a minimum of 3 years working significantly on ASC 740 tax accounting for a publicly traded client or company, ideally with experience with international subsidiaries and preferably from a Big 4 or large local firm

  • Experience with OneSource (OTP) and Global Access software is required.

  • Domestic and International Travel Required: 5 - 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel required

  • Experience with SAP and BCS is a plus

  • Experience with MS Access a plus

  • The candidate must be detail oriented and be able to prioritize and multi-task independently

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • CPA (whether pursuing or secured).
