General Summary/Overview Statement:

This position will have a broad range of responsibilities that require deep knowledge across the domains of enterprise architecture (physical and virtual servers, high availability & clustering, converged & hyper-converged infrastructure, Windows/Linux, Networking, etc.) and cloud technologies. Principal areas of focus will be TFS (Team Foundation Server), Business Intelligence, Systems support (Windows Server 2012 & 2016, MSSQL Server, SharePoint). Will include data analysis and reporting duties for various Partners teams. This consists of SSRS, Excel and Power BI reporting. Resource will work closely with other teams to understand requirements for new reports, as well as to support existing reports.

Resource will need to support existing SQA systems such as TFS, SQL and SharePoint in both a Dev and Production environment. Production support will be in tandem with Systems Programming. These responsibilities include trouble-shooting, updates, scaling, performance tuning, scheduled maintenance, and Version and OS upgrades.

This is a technology leadership position that requires hands-on development and implementation within a fast-moving, agile group that interacts with and supports research and development activities in the enterprise. The Senior Systems Engineer will additionally participate as a subject matter expert and collaborator in enterprise-wide development of service/product models and architecture.

The Sr. Systems Engineer works in collaboration with the business owners, stakeholders, user community, vendors, and Partners IS to align his/her efforts with enterprise or large organization strategic and operational goals and initiatives. S/he is a rare resource that can bring the most complex problems to resolution by applying the appropriate technical framework solutions. S/he proposes, manages, maintains, and enforces Quality Assurance best practices, workflows and test frameworks relating to these systems and applications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Develops tools, test Infrastructure strategies and solutions that comply with Partners IS standards and strategic directions. Perform Training on developed Tools suite, Terminology, and processes and best practices.

Commonly partners with Project Manager(s) to drive project(s) to successful completion, leveraging in-depth knowledge of Software Quality Assurance documentation, tracking and tools that will provide the highest level of quality product with clear understanding and visibility into the test process and test status for dissemination and consumption by all interested parties.
1)Reporting and data analysis using Power BI, SSRS, T-SQL, and Excel. Various reports depend on SharePoint and TFS integration. Resource will create new reports as well as support existing reports, specifically for the PeC testing teams.
2)Provide support for TFS R&D environments, including Application support, SQL configuration and trouble-shooting, SSAS cube support, end user issues.
3)Work with Systems Programming on Production TFS administration and support as lead SME for SQA team
4)Explore TFS growth and scaling options, especially upgrades, customizations and performance
5)Occasionally lead testing efforts for TFS version upgrades or updates
6)Lead effort to expand Power BI reporting for internal SQA team as well as other Partners teams

Candidate stays current with industry trends as they relate to job responsibilities and incorporates their impact on systems and reports design, testing, implementation, and support. Researches appropriate SDLC, ALM, virtualization, scripting, monitoring, and reporting tools such as PowerShell, PowerBi, SSRS, TFS, VSTS, PowerCLI, Python, etc

Without formal management responsibility, on occasion will lead up to 5 resources in a technical capacity in a highly matrixed organization on multiple test efforts. Assigns/delegates/coordinates assignments as appropriate. Provides direction and guidance to team members to facilitate timely and quality results. Fosters a positive team environment through leadership and mentoring.

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in a technology field, Masters preferred, or equivalent experience required.

  • 10 years of hands-on IT experience, supporting a diverse set of Systems Infrastructure technologies and administration requirements.

  • 5 years involving data analysis, with a focus on T-SQL, Excel Power Pivot, SSRS, SSAS, SharePoint

  • 3 years supporting or administering MS-TFS systems, especially TFS 2017

  • 2 years of experience with Cloud technologies, specifically Azure or related IaaS approaches

  • Preferred experience with Power BI and in-depth reporting and presentation

  • Preferred experience with QA testing methodology and planning

  • Comfortable multi-tasking and working in an Agile development environment.

  • Able to navigate, collaborate and deliver on objectives while managing dependencies in a complex, multi-site, matrix environment.

  • Exposure to CMMI, ITIL or other process improvement system preferred

  • Exemplary communication skills and ability to work in a complex organizational environment

  • Medical Industry Experience from a test perspective a plus

  • Preferred experience with Office 365 with emphasis to PowerBi reporting and Azure AD integration.

General Summary/Overview Statement: Partners Healthcare Systems' (PHS) Enterprise Research Infrastructure and Services (ERIS http://rc.partners.org) is immediately seeking a Senior Scientific Computing Systems Administrator. This position works within a multi-disciplinary Scientific Computing and Big-Data teams that architects, builds, maintains and supports the scientific computing and analytics systems IDEA (Integrated Data Environment for Analytics) and HPC Platforms for the research mission. The role is responsible for the build and administration of our Linux High Performance Computing (HPC) ecosystem and includes managing the systems from every aspect of Linux, the hardware and its network, deployment/patch automation and technical troubleshooting. The role is challenging and varied, requiring technical, interpersonal and problem solving abilities. Using your knowledge of research infrastructure, high-throughput networked Linux systems and scientific computing tools, you will develop and maintain the infrastructure needed to support high-throughput data analyses and further the research that includes translational and clinical studies needed to transition findings from the bench to the bedside. You will be responsible for operating the computing cluster and assisting the user community in its use. Included in the cluster service are Linux remote desktop capability, 6000 CPU cores for batch-processing, GP-GPU equipped systems for machine learning, Intel Xeon Phi co-processors and numerous scientific applications. Key technical aspects of the role are Linux system administration, scientific software installation and troubleshooting performance issues relating to software, networking or server hardware. Experience using comparable computing clusters is essential. In the course of expanding and improving the service capability, you will interface with commercial hardware and software vendors, select and deploy new technologies and create how-to guides for end users. Working with the Information security and Privacy teams you will ensure systems and procedures adhere to organizational security standards, values, and HIPAA guidelines. Management of the environment utilizes industry standard tools for job scheduling, hardware monitoring and software configuration management. We are seeking someone with the proven ability to help teams and projects successfully accomplish their technical objectives. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: * Cluster and Systems Administration: Manage and administer production systems used by researchers and Research Centers (e.g. http://personalizedmedicine.partners.org/). * Analyzes result of server monitoring and implement changes to improve performance, processing and utilization. Proposes, maintains and enforces polices, practices and security procedures. * Develop and maintain system documentation as well as user-facing knowledge base articles and how-to guides. * Evaluate, select and deploy hardware and/or cloud solutions for research scientific computing. This includes CPU and GPU-based compute, high speed networking and data storage. * Analyze and resolve customer and technical problems: Tuning cluster scheduling parameters, memory / CPU contention, scientific application compilation and run-time issues.
