General Summary:

This Sr. Systems Engineer - Compliance will plan, develop, communicate, conduct, report, and remediate on IT Security requirements. Working closely with the VP and Security Architect, this role will function within the IT Department to meet PCI, Cyber Security, SOC2 and HIPAA standards. Responsibilities will also include performing Business Impact Analysis and other assessments following governance using the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conducts network and application security scans and tests by using a variety of technical security tools to reduce vulnerability of company information systems;

  • Studies and interprets past security events and current security threats to improve security defenses by developing and implementing new tools and processes;

  • Consults on information security best practices by researching and analyzing company technical initiatives to mitigate risk;

  • Evaluates and implements new security technology and toolsets to ensure optimal security posture;

  • Communicates developing security threats associated with specific business related data exchanges and connectivity to senior leadership;

  • Works to establish and deploy security standards and security documentation;

  • Works with server virtualization to administer and deploy various operating systems in a virtualized environment;

  • Participates in the review and update cycle for security policies, standards, and controls;

  • Engages with subject matter experts to address new requirements and emerging business needs in a secure manner;

  • Conducts periodic security audits against documented controls and remediates findings;

  • Conducts periodic user access reviews (UAR) of systems to ensure appropriate access levels across all job roles;

  • Maintains a risk register and risk visual with clearly defined owners for each risk;

  • Collaborates with team members to analyze information and formulate recommendations and reports for management review and decision-making;

  • Attends various meetings with management, departments, and vendors to ensure company objectives are met;

  • Participates in inter-departmental planning meetings to coordinate and communicate activities related to the successful completion of projects;

  • Works closely with IT groups and cross functional teams for integration of systems into hosted environment;

  • Travels to customer sites, project areas, business related events, and other Ritter Communications locations as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of network system design, development methods, and techniques;

  • Knowledge of network management practices and procedures;

  • Knowledge of regulations and security standards such as SOC, PCI, HIPAA, NIST, ISO, etc.;

  • Skill and experience in one or more of the following areas: Security Risk Management, Security operations, Network Administration, Systems Administration, SDLC, Encryption, Asset Management, Identity and Access Management, IT operations;

  • Skill in conducting security risk assessments;

  • Skill in developing and editing security policies;

  • Skill in reviewing technology, recommend changes and remediate security risks;

  • Skill in problem solving and resolution;

  • Skill in reading and interpreting technical documents, vendor deployment guidelines, white papers and configuration manuals;

  • Skill in advanced oral and written communication;

  • Skill and experience with work-related governance, risk, and compliance (e.g. product security, IT security, secure software development, risk assessment and vulnerability management);

  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner;

  • Ability to recommend and implement improvements to enhance and improve internal operational security processes and workflow;

  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;

  • Ability to travel for business requirements; must possess a valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent area of study plus five years as an Engineer in a technology environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Signal Support Systems Specialists are responsible for integrating signal systems and networks; performing signal support functions and unit-level maintenance on authorized signal equipment; and installing, operating, and maintaining radio and data distribution systems. Advanced team members supervise and train other Soldiers; maintain and install signal support systems and terminal devices; provide technical assistance and training for automation and communications equipment; prepare maintenance and supply requests for unit-level signal support; and operate and perform preventative maintenance checks and services on assigned vehicles.
