The Senior Systems Engineer will serve as a leader within a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate technical excellence, reliability in delivering mission critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of availability, optimization, and customer service. Qualified Senior Systems Engineer applicants will have a strong background in IT Infrastructure design, deployment, and project planning.

  • Participate actively in and adhere to our Service Management support process (ITSM, Incident, Problem, Change processes)

  • Technology Practice Area development and leadership, which involves leading and mentoring technology focused agile groups.

  • Performs advanced troubleshooting of issues relating to various technology areas such as storage, servers, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, Network, and automation.

  • Participate with the 7x24 On-Call schedules

  • Technical leadership in resolving ongoing problems; be engaged in pursing permanent solutions to address ongoing issues.

  • Assists in the development and the design of Foot Locker infrastructure, this includes both hands on design and collaboration with our architecture team for enterprise wide solutions.

  • Participate in both the Architecture Review Board and Security Review Board to ensure that all technologies being implemented follow Infrastructure's standards and best practices.

  • Participation in, and at times orchestration of proof of concept technologies to evaluate the best possible tools for the infrastructure department.

  • Participates and leads in team and cross-team technology practice areas, including the organization of meetings and the supervision of practice area documentation, tasks, and workload both personally and of other group members.

  • Drives the creation of new documentation as well as maintaining previously created documents. Leads in creating and enforcing the documentation standards set by the infrastructure teams.

  • Leads projects of medium to high complexity, this includes driving an initiative by setting and meeting milestones, managing tasks and commutating status and updates to stake holders.

  • Creates and maintains positive working relationships with team members, IT customers and management.

  • Mentoring of fellow teammates in both technical and non-technical areas.

  • Build the team: A Senior Engineer seeks to technically align the team and seeks alignment with other teams. It is critical in this role to promote synergy with areas of the business that seek our services.


  • Strong experience working in IT organizations with rigorous ITSM processes and Change Control

  • Expert knowledge of hyper-converged technologies(vSAN) and Enterprise grade storage systems (SAN).

  • Technical project development and planning.

  • Communication and Leadership skills to drive technology focused groups to successful outcomes

  • Experience with various versions of Microsoft Windows Server and Virtual Platforms such as VMWare, Nutanix, KVM, and Hyper-V.

  • Knowledge of Cloud based platforms such as MS Azure, ServiceNow, VMware hybrid platform

  • Working knowledge of hardware and software-based firewalls, load balancers, routers, and switches

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance hardening policies and procedures is preferred

  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies working in small teams, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • Working knowledge of scripting and DevOps approaches, such as utilizing code/content management tools such as Chef/Ansible/Puppet.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, both in a manner that contributes to a positive experience for all involved. Should be capable of presenting technical information to audiences of varying technical levels.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business and/or equivalent IT experience

  • Progressive experience in IT as a System Administrator and Systems Engineer
