Position: Senior Systems Engineer (Primetals Technologies USA LLC; Alpharetta, GA)

Duties: Responsible for the execution of Power System Solutions, as well as enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to existing power systems, and integrate the appropriate hardware and software.

Develop material specifications and schematics for complex power systems, substations, complex SCADA systems and perform power system analysis. Support marketing and proposals with cost estimates, technical specification generation and take offs for proposal of variable complexities and for greenfield, brownfield and revamp proposals. Execute small to medium size projects at project engineer or lead engineer capacity.

Use NESC, NEC, IEEE and ANSI standards to specify and evaluate the power system equipment and integrate the various equipment to build customized power system solutions for our customers. Perform ground grid design and analysis. Perform advanced EMTP, power system analysis for complex systems such as Arc Furnace Breaker, SVC Sizing, Coordination, Arc Flash, EMTP analysis for filter switching, insulation coordination, RC element sizing and ferro resonance.

Design protection and control schematics for outdoor substations from 34.5kV to 345kV for industrial customers. Design protection panels and control panels for substations from 34.5kV to 345kV for industrial customers. Develop systems engineering and integration schematics to being equipment together based on the ANSI, IEEE and Primetals Electrical Standards.

Develop IEC61850 based SCADA and power monitoring systems for large scale industrial plants. Design and develop controls and protection for 480V motor control centers. Interact with the customer to answer technical questions and review applicable design documents. Provide continuous feedback and provide recommendations regarding product improvements in accordance with both internal guidelines and our customer's specifications.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 2 years of experience in engineering and testing of power systems equipment or related experience.

Skills Required: Must have experience with:

Experience in power systems analysis and stability, switchgear and protection, power systems protection, power quality, power electronics; Experience in IEC61850 based substation automation; Experience in electrical standards IEEE, ANSI, NFPA and NEC; Experience in application and testing of digital protection relays with relay software such as GE Enervista, SEL AcSelerator, and Doble Protection Suite; Experience in substation AC/DC power calculations, circuit breaker, and MOD schematics; Experience in SCADA concepts and deployment; Experience in Generating bill of materials, 480Vac motor protection and controls; Experience in Programming and testing.
