The Sr. Systems Engineer Linux / MySQL Environment will be primarily responsible for software deployment, hardware infrastructure design, operations, and monitoring of the applications suite running in back-end, cloud, and front-end.
QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree with major in computer science, Engineering or related field.
5+ years experience in code deployment, application configuration, and application change management.
3+ years experience in database deployment, writing SQL, replication.
3+ years experience as Systems Administrator in the Linux/Unix environment including shell scripting.
1+ years experience in hardware infrastructure design and sizing for high availability (HA) and high performance.
1+ years experience in infrastructure and application support.
1+ years experience with corporate IT functions.
Experience with MDM tools for iOS and Android devices a plus.
Experience with configuring VMs/Network Elements/AD/Firewall/Load balancer a plus.
Experience with infrastructure security and remediation a plus.
Experience with private or public cloud with IAAS/AAS as a plus.
Knowledge of DevOps and ITIL a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to solve problems. Be a Team player.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Application deployment on the Linux/Java based web and app servers. Scripting of the related job using shell scripts and other code deployment tools.
MySQL Database deployment, replication, and maintenance.
Mobile deployment on iOS and Android devices using MDM tools such as SOTI MobiControl.
Application Smoke test post-deployment.
Monitoring/Alerting of production and lower environments including CPU, memory, disk space, stuck threads, etc. This will require updating/configuring existing scripts and tools.
Creates Application Operations handbook outlining application deployment and recovery steps, application hardware diagrams, logical application data-flow, back-up and recovery steps, monitoring and controls, etc.
Configures network elements including network segmentation, load balancer and firewall.
Configures Linux based servers, upgrade OS, apply maintenance and security patches.
Configures lower environments including use of VMware ESXi for new/existing servers.
Supports corporate IT functions such as maintenance and configuration of LAN, IP based telephones, AD, VPN, laptops, printers, Jira, Daisy.
Creates hardware design for HIPAA compliant next-generation cloud infrastructure for high availability, performance, and resiliency. Familiar with both private and public cloud infrastructure management.
Helps Development Team move towards DevOps model providing Operations voice and input.

This is a client facing role responsible for the overall technical delivery and configuration of sales environments for our client demonstrations. The candidate must be experienced in releasing software on medium scale J2EE environments. The candidate must also be comfortable working in an Agile environment, have a "can-do" attitude and work well in a cross-functional environment with minimal supervision. He/she should be a self-starter, quick learner and a great team player. Job Responsibilities: * Build, assemble, configure and deliver source in multi-tier environments * Support the Business Development Team on Demo and Sales environment setup * Create and maintain internal and external (client) environment diagrams and documentation * Participate in the business development process through the review of RFP requirements and conducting technical demonstrations of the C-Track product suite to potential customers * Collaborating with the Business Development Team to configure demonstration environments using a specific dataset for the purpose of client demonstrations Minimum Requirements: * Experience with build/releasing software in a J2EE environment * Excellent communication (oral/written) skills and the ability to interact with multiple cross functional teams and customers in a diverse setting encompassing both technical and non-technical users * Working knowledge in at least one Linux flavor * Must display calmness under pressure * Must be willing to travel to customer locations both domestically and internationally * Excellent Windows background in Windows 20xx; Windows administration experience a plus * Working knowledge of SCM (software configuration management) best practices and applications * Knowledge of Apache, Tomcat, or another application server such as WebLogic a must * Experience with automated build tools; such as Jenkins * Experience with various source control tools * Application troubleshooting, ability to determine root causes based on log output * Excellent analytical, problem solving skills, and attention to detail; production support experience * Working knowledge of SQL with basic query experience * Proven ability to adapt well in a fast-paced environment At Thomson Reuters, we believe what we do matters.
