Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Security Implementation Engineer to design and configure both windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) based systems. The Security Implementation Engineer will be required to program and automate security policies into the system using languages such as Python, Java, and Bash. The Security Implementation Engineer should also be familiar with Configuration Management tools. The Security Implementation Engineer will support security engineering and federal security compliance activities during the operations and maintenance of satellite ground systems; conduct cyber security hardening tasks; support security-based testing including capturing test results analysis and the development of risk assessment reports.

Candidate must be a U.S. CITIZEN with a current DOD Secret security clearance

Responsibilities include:

  • Security engineering support for the technical implementation of security solutions comprised of COTS, FOSS, and custom products

  • Assist with automating upgrades and installation of COTS Software using automation tools (e.g., Chef, Puppet, scripts)

  • Performing evaluation of technical implementation of security solutions comprised of COTS as well as custom developed products

  • Preparing for, supporting and/or leading Security Test & Evaluation activities for program sell-off of security related requirements

  • Applying knowledge of current IA policies as a contributor to the architecture and design of secure solutions

  • Compliance to security directive assessments reviews and related documentation

  • Updating Hardening guides and preparing related reports as required.

Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of hands-on administration experience on Windows and RHEL O/S systems relating to servers and workstations

  • This position requires US Citizenship and US Government DoD Secret clearance

  • Experience working with cyber security engineering projects and programs for U.S. Government and/or commercial clients

  • 3+ years of demonstrated technical experience in cyber security

  • Strong understanding of security design and architecture

  • 2+ years of practical experience verification of hardening IT systems in compliance with Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)

  • Strong familiarization of security designs and implementing COTS products in a system

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, may include weekends

Desired Skills:

  • Background in COTS product installation

  • Experience with automation tools such as Chef (preferred), Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Fabric or similar products for O/S builds, software installation and configuration

  • Technical knowledge in satellite ground systems, including hardware, software, and communications architecture

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification - CISSP or Security +

Required Education:

Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 6 years of related work experience.

The SrSoftware Engineer II will work with an experienced team of software developers to help come up with innovative solutions to complex problems. The team will work closely with Systems Engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind. Software engineers will gain experience with the full software lifecycle including design, development, test, delivery, and maintenance. Developers apply various technologies including Java, J2EE, JMS, Webservices, Python, Ruby, Chef, C++, Oracle, Mongo. The selected candidate must have an active TS/SCI clearance. This position is eligible for a Sign on Bonus up to $40K for a candidate with a current TS/SCI that can be verified and hired at Raytheon Technologies. Key Responsibilities: * Developing new capabilities within software applications to meet a wide range of customer requirements and operational needs * Responsible for performing development, integration, test and documentation duties to ensure proper operation of hardware and software platforms * Integrating a wide variety of applications from various sources, and ensuring they meet performance standards for stability and resource utilization * Develop software, tailor reusable software, and integrate software components * Adhere to accepted standards for development, including writing unit tests which provide a high percentage of code coverage, participating in peer code reviews, conducting design reviews, and generating test plans to ensure maximum stability and quality of code Required: * United States Citizen * Active TS/SCI clearance * Minimum 6 years demonstrated Software Engineering experience and proven track record * Programming skills Java and/or C++ * Proficiency in Windows, Unix and/or Linux (Linux preferred) * Object Oriented Analysis (OOA) and Object Oriented Design (OOD) skills * Strong oral and written communication skills; problem solving skills Desired: * Experience with the entire software lifecycle (preliminary design through test, and maintenance phases) * Experience and knowledge related to one or more specific technologies: * Satellite ground systems * Mission Management systems * Planning and Scheduling * Command and Telemetry * Flight Dynamics models * Digital Signal Processing (FFTs, modulation/demodulation techniques) * Experience with Software design tools such as Rational Rose, Rhapsody, or comparable tools * Experience with requirements and use case analysis * Experience with scripting (JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, Python, PHP, etc.) * Experience with agile (Scrum, Kanban, Scrumban, SAFe, etc) * Experience and/or knowledge with DevOps and Continuous Integration * Experience with COTS/FOSS Integration * Experience with integrating custom software onto harden platforms using Docker container strategies * Experience and/or knowledge with Service Oriented Architecture * Experience and/or knowledge with an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) like Eclipse * Experience and/or knowledge with Web Service design and development * Experience and/or knowledge with Security related software development * Experience with Automated testing tools (Cucumber, Gherkin) * Experience with Atlassian management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.) * Experience and/or knowledge with one or more databases (Mongo, Postgres) * Geographical mapping and plotting using NextMidas or some other C++/Java/Web frameworks Required Education (including Major): Requires a bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience Our facility in Aurora, CO offers amenities that create work and life balance.
