Markel is seeking an organized and motivated individual to lead our Platform Compliance Team. As a member of the Global Technology Services team, the Sr. Systems Engineer will participate in organizational strategy and architecture. This role will partner with our Managed Service Provider to support Markel's infrastructure and business initiatives. The position of Sr. Systems Engineer will provide guidance and direction to resources as well as enabling the delivery of new capabilities within the Backup & Disaster Recovery functional areas.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Leads relationship with Managed Service Provider for Operations, Backup & Recovery, and Tools teams.
Ensures MSP resources are engaging in continual service delivery improvement, including operational efficiency, meeting SLA's, cost reduction and positively impacting the customer experience.
Liaises with GTS Compliance Lead to provide metrics, reporting, and artifacts in support of any Audit requests, SOX Compliancy or similar initiatives.
Partners with other Global Platform Services Leads to provide consistent delivery of global infrastructure services.
Performs Service Ownership for core infrastructure technologies, including understanding customer requirements, participating in architecting of solutions, defining and implementing standards, and being accountable for availability of services.
Coordinate monthly business reviews with Markel leadership detailing status of MSP relationship and reporting of relevant metrics, including capacity and performance of global environment.
Staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to support innovation within Markel.
Acts as an escalation point for MSP technical resources assisting in resolution of requests.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience leading cohesive teams
Backup services experience preferred
Understanding of Disaster Recovery solutions and processes
ITIL Certification or experience working in an ITIL environment preferred
Experience with supporting audits and ensuring compliance with global standards
Familiarity working in an Agile & DevOps environment preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills with strong written and oral communication skills
Prior experience working in a managed services environment a plus
Ability to motivate and lead remote workforce
Experience working in an acquisition minded environment with the ability to scale technologies, people and process with the growth of the business a plus
