The Senior Systems Engineer works independently, with management review of end results. Continually assess the performance of appropriate software systems to identify and correct problems which impact operation efficiency and work quality.

The Senior Systems Engineer maintains active liaison with user personnel to ensure continuing responsiveness of applicable system software user requirements. The individual analyzes performance indicators such as system's response time and number of programs being processed to ensure operational efficiency. Designs, code, installs, and maintains appropriate systems software program.

The Senior Systems Engineer identifies, evaluates, tailors and directs the implementation of vendor supplied software packages. The individual performs special system regeneration where applicable to reflect changes in peripheral configuration. The Senior Systems Engineer ensures the maintenance of adequate software systems documentation.

The Engineer recommends to management the purchase or lease of system software packages and related hardware and provides technical assistance to less experienced systems software personnel in the resolution of complex system - related problems. Trains users in applications programming and other us er personnel in the use of systems software and related hardware. May perform other duties as assigned. Has prime accountability for the maintenance and operating efficiency of a major subsystem, such as the teleprocessing network, database management systems, etc.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS or equivalent + 5 yrs related experience, or MS + 3 yrs related experience.

Job Details: Job Summary: Provide technical leadership and systems engineering management for a project team in automated fare collection systems, tolling, and/or financial accounting. Apply systems engineering processes and skills to systematically convert customer needs into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Responsible for systems planning, system and lower level requirements development, system design, analyses and trade studies, hardware/software design oversight, system integration, system level test, and subcontractor technical management/oversight. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Provide technical oversight on a given project * Estimate, plan, schedule, and execute systems engineering activities * Develop and manage the system requirements * Allocate system requirements to subsystem and oversee development/refinement of lower-level requirements * Define operational concepts for a training system * Perform analyses and trade studies as necessary to aid in the selection of system concepts * Integrate specialty engineering disciplines into a project team * Direct a project team to define and document the system architecture and design * Influence hardware and software designs to ensure compliance with requirements and system design * Perform hardware/software integration planning and oversee activities * Perform system level test planning and oversee test implementation * Interface with both internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to engineering, program management, quality, finance, business development, services, sub-contractors, end users and customers. * Perform technical risk management activities * Support engineering activities for proposal efforts * Monitor, mentor, and train less experienced systems engineers Minimum Job Requirements: Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline, plus five years of related experience, or an applicable Master's degree with three years of related experience.
