REMOTE/HYBRID

The University of Miami, Office of Research Intelligence and Capacity has a great job opportunity for a Sr. Systems Analyst to work at the University of Miami. The Senior Systems Analyst investigates, analyzes, evaluates, and recommends hardware and software solutions. Moreover, the incumbent provides leadership and coordination to project teams consisting of management, users, IT staff, and vendors. An employee in this position also performs systems analyst activities and makes recommendations in areas that require a high level of technical competency.

• Performs necessary investigation, analysis, and evaluation to determine project feasibility.

• Helps to develop project cost and benefit estimates to establish project worth, including the development of alternative considerations.

• Advises appropriate people on the implications of existing IT systems that can be applied to a problem.

• Uses appreciable originality on system assignments.

• Develops and evaluates previously refined data and selects from a range of alternatives to determine the appropriate action to be taken.

• Helps estimate resource needs for analysts, programmers, user personnel, consultants, and equipment.

• Develops or assists in the development of work plans and task sequencing.

• Develops time schedules, conversion, and test procedures for all aspects of system, from manual handling through computer processing.

• Recommends plans for user and resource management approvals.

• Recommends IT equipment needed for the solution of problems.

• Modifies systems designs to take maximum advantage of existing equipment resources.

• Specifies the number and types of records, files, and documents to be used.

• Plans independently the full range of programming actions needed to achieve desired end-results on complex problems.

• Checks on, instructs, assigns work to, and otherwise functionally directs junior staff.

• Analyzes, plans, and defines data architecture framework, including security, reference data, and metadata.

• Utilizes application programming interfaces (APIs) to retrieve data.

• Translates business requirements into databases, data warehouses, and data streams.

• Collaborates with other teams within the organization to devise and implement data strategies, build models, and assess shareholder needs and goals.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

• Very strong proficiency in SQL coding with skills and experience with Power BI, Extract Transform and Load (ETL), Excel for reporting and analysis.

• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
