Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our company's IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a proactive problem solver with extensive knowledge of systems administration, networking, and cloud services.
Objectives
Systems Management:
Manage, configure, and maintain servers, storage solutions, and virtualization platforms.
Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability.
Perform regular system upgrades and patches to maintain system security and integrity.
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and implement effective solutions.
Network Administration:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
Ensure network security by implementing and managing firewalls, VPNs, and various security systems.
Monitor network performance and optimize as necessary.
Security:
Implement and enforce security policies and procedures.
Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Respond to security related inquiries and provide detailed reports and analysis.
Cloud Services:
Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure and services in AWS and Azure.
Migrate on-premises systems to cloud environments as needed.
Backup and Recovery:
Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
Ensure data integrity and availability through regular backups and testing of recovery procedures.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with other IT team members, developers, and business units to support various projects.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems, configurations, procedures, and policies.
Generate regular reports on system performance, security, and maintenance activities.
Support:
Provide Tier 3 support and ensure operations, software or hardware trouble tickets are responded to in a timely manner, verify any response time SLAs are met or exceeded.
Work outside of business hours may be required (requirement to be on call for system down/critical issues support).
Requirements
Education/Experience:
Strong and collaborative team player that can also work independently
Extensive experience with Windows servers.
Fundamental working knowledge with Linux servers.
Proficiency in virtualization technologies such as VMware.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies.
Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
Solid knowledge of security best practices and tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant degree, diploma and certifications.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems administration or related role.
