PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Playing a major role in the implementation and support of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure systems; the Sr. Systems Administrator provides technical leadership, advanced administrative and business knowledge to ensuring reliable VDI service-delivery and service-support to our customers. The position has responsibility for administration, maintenance, and support of servers running current and future versions of Windows operating systems as well as Citrix and Nutanix platforms. This position also provides technical guidance to junior staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers current and future versions of VDI Servers and appliances; installs, configures, and troubleshoots operating systems and related software to ensure Citrix and VDI related servers are built and maintained to meet business service levels.

  • Effectively coordinates server and appliance placements, storage, and network allocation; communicates project deadlines to ensure on time project delivery as necessary; enlists assistance of appropriate personnel in other teams to resolve issues as necessary.

  • Performs routine operating system, infrastructure service and hardware preventative maintenance based on hardware and Microsoft best practices.

  • Works to complete service requests and resolves incidents submitted through the Help Desk, Desktop Support, Application Management and other Global Business Solutions & Technology (GBS & T) departments.

  • Performs routine capacity planning tasks for systems and services. Proactively monitors the environment. Generates reports showing the utilization of servers.

  • Mentors and trains junior team members on the technical and procedural aspects of the environment.

  • Documents server and application recovery processes and configurations to ensure that recovery (where necessary) can meet recovery time objective.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • College degree and 2 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 4 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years related work experience required

  • Ability to write queries and administration scripts in languages like VBScript and Powershell

  • Experience with Windows, Citrix, and Nutanix current version.

  • Knowledgeable in Citrix XenApp, Xen Desktop and Netscaler technologies.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Hyper-V, Dell and EMC hardware

  • Extensive systems implementation and administration experience

  • Experience with server, storage and networking hardware (Switches Disk arrays, NAS, Blades, etc.)

  • Understanding of High Availability/continuity technologies (e.g. Clustering, EMC SRDF, Data Replication)

  • Extensive business operating knowledge

  • Understanding of the dependencies of various platforms and their needs

  • Understanding of project management and control

  • Ability to communicate ideas and problem solutions

  • Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • College degree in computer science, business administration, or related technical field with 5-7 years of systems support work experience preferred

  • Advanced degree or study preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft's SQL Server and System Center products (Operations Manager [SCOM], Configuration Manager [SCCM], Virtual Machine Manager [VMM]), and various scripting and reporting technologies preferred

  • Experience with Windows systems administration preferred

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The Desktop Systems Administrator packages and deploys applications across the entire firm utilizing Admin Studio Packaging software and System Center Configuration Manager infrastructure Employee works with developers and project teams to understand the application requirements and help chose deployment methods that would best support the software in a production role. The software repository that contains all of the application deployments for the company is managed through the lifecycle of each application from the initial packaging, through patching and updating of the application, through the eventual replacement and decommissioning of the application. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Maintains software installation packaging responsibilities. Provides installation packages in both physical and virtual modes, creates manual install instructions and deployment batch files, and manages the rollout through the decommissioning process for all automated software installations. * Provides support including training, acting as subject matter expert with in certain software groups, answers questions, along with assisting with projects the group is involved in. * Implements procedures developed by Senior System Administrators in support of performance measurement and analytical information gathering to determine best system configuration. * Assists with break/fix situations and installations of software upgrades as projects on the software that they are assigned. Identifies the issue and ensures that the tasks are carried out. * Maintains the management of critical systems; implements solutions in support of desktop vulnerabilities, deployment systems, and desktop standardization. QUALIFICATIONS Required * Experience with major systems implementations * Ability to work closely with peers, vendors and the customer during projects and issue resolutions * Detail oriented as the tasks this group is charged with affect many desktops and therefore fallout from a mistake is global * Strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to formulate information into shared documents * Strong interpersonal skills * Must be comfortable working with all levels of management due to the wide reaching charter of this group * Technical skills which include an understanding of basic scripting methods, the SCCM environment, packaging methods and languages * Good understanding of the Operating System and the infrastructure that supports it including Active Directory – Policies, Groups, and Users * Ability to provide 24x7/365 support through on-call rotation * Provides 24 hour pager support and performs off-hours support as needed Preferred * 4 year technical degree with 2 years experience, or a minimum of 4 years related work experience preferred * Previous experience with Microsoft SMS/SCCM environment preferred * Previous experience with Microsoft App-v environment preferred * Previous experience with Flexera Admin Studio packaging infrastructure * Previous application packaging, preference is with MSI based packages * Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer preferred T.
