Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer at our Cheshire, CT facility. This engineering position supports a production environment of electromechanical assembly manufacturing and testing of these electromechanical systems. The job pre-requisites for the Systems Engineer involves a background in Environment Stress and Customer simulation Test equipment and associated Software. The job also requires strong planning, coordination, and execution of simple to complex test systems setup. This position requires the ability to work well on a team and requires strong electro-mechanical analytical and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will have an understanding of production test equipment, will be able to analyze test equipment faults, will be able to design and troubleshoot new and existing test equipment. The candidate will be required to write up weekly reports, and will be able to carry out any other necessary tasks delegated by the supervising engineer.

This is an ONSITE position in Cheshire, CT. This position may be eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Experienced with drawings, blueprints and plans for products and equipment.

  • Designs and build prototypes of planned product or equipment.

  • Key role in the construction of products and equipment.

  • Writes up reports of weekly project activity.

  • Maintains records and files of all completed engineering work.

  • Inspects product and equipment for problems or errors.

  • Runs tests on products and equipment to ensure proper functionality.

  • Analyzes system or product performance.

  • Develop ways to improve products and equipment.

  • Writes computer programs and executable software.

  • Keeps apprised of the latest developments and innovations in the industry.

  • Addresses and resolves glitches and problems with products/equipment.

  • Manage regular maintenance on products and equipment.

  • Orders and replaces equipment parts.

  • Answers employee or customer questions about the function and maintenance of products/equipment.

  • Provides technical support to customers and employees.

  • Ensures that all safety procedures are observed during project work.

  • Ability to assemble complex test systems.

  • Must have electrical and mechanical engineering troubleshooting skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Software such as MS Word, MS Excel/Macro, MS PPT, etc.

  • Capable of PLC Programming and Design.

  • Electro-mechanical device troubleshooting and corrective action development.

  • Working knowledge of complex cable and harness assemblies.

  • Strong production equipment design, troubleshooting and repair knowledge.

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Software such as MS Word, MS Excel/Macro, MS PPT, etc.

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with C#, C, and C++.

  • Experience with object-oriented programming concepts and data structures. (LabVIEW)

  • Understand Database Management Tools, including MS SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL database.

  • Knowledge of API development and UI/UX Design.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development and Automated Build Tools.

  • Experience in Software Systems Integration.

  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and practices.

  • Skilled in problem solving and commitment to delivering high-quality software.

  • Experience with multi-threaded programming and practices.

  • ERP experience such as SAP/ORACLE.

  • RCCA tool practice such as Six Sigma and ACE.
