Job Description:

Raytheon IIS is seeking a senior systems engineer or a senior software engineer to perform AF DCGS system administration, sustainment and integration functions across Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) systems. This requisition is open to candidates willing to work with a well-established and evolving team at Beale AFB, California.

Duties include but are not limited to providing administration, support and integration of existing and new weapon system infrastructure that is based upon Solaris, Linux and Windows operating systems and associated hardware. Additional duties include providing direct active mission support and administration of RADAR and Optical airborne sensors via ground based control systems. Prospective candidates are not required to have existing knowledge of all IT systems and mission domains but strong experience in these areas is desired.

New members of the Raytheon team will initially work closely with more experienced engineers but will eventually be expected to work with limited supervision and be willing and able to train junior engineers and administrators. Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, possess excellent written and verbal skills and have the ability to work independently. The candidate will be expected to support and respond to customer needs with accuracy and efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • 6 years of related work experience

  • Actively monitor, administer and troubleshoot complex GEOINT systems consisting of Solaris, Linux and Windows Operating Systems.

  • Participate in integration activities by working closely with the customer, Raytheon in-plant engineering and other OEMs when new capabilities are fielded

  • Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and administrators

  • Provide direct mission support of U-2 and Global Hawk operations using dedicated ground control systems to monitor and control sensor and ground system health/status and quickly resolve issues as they occur

  • Perform incident reporting and logistics during problem resolution

  • Work as part of a company agnostic team across the AF DCGS enterprise, pursue Raytheon company goals and exceed customer requirements while working well with other team members in the local area

Desired Skills

  • UNIX (Solaris or Linux) and Microsoft Windows system administration

  • Experience with software development methods (shell scripts, JavaScript, Python, PHP, C/C++, C#, Java, XML, HTML, etc.)

  • Experience administering VMware (containers, storage and resources) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, etc.)

  • Experience with military GEOINT domain to include U-2, Global Hawk, MQ-1 and MQ-9 sensors and Processing, Exploitation and Dissemination (PED) architectures

  • Familiar with the concepts of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and frameworks (ex. DDF)

  • Administration of COTS or GOTS software solutions used for GEOINT analysis (Socet GXP, Xplorer, Unicorn, mIRC chat, MAAS, etc.) or other OEM software (APS, GSEG, CICS, etc.)

  • Network administration and troubleshooting

  • Sybase, Oracle, MySQL or MongoDB database system administration

  • Familiarity with the Serena (ADSM) trouble ticket reporting system

  • Prior Air Force AFSC 3D0X or 3D1X background

Required Certification

  • Security + or higher DoD 8570 certification

Required Security Clearance

  • Active Top Secret / SCI

Required Education or Equivalent Experience

  • BS in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) or related discipline and 6 years of experience in area of study

  • Or, 14 years of experience in the field of computer system administration including some military DCGS work history

Special Requirements

  • Working rotating shifts may be required -- possible 12 hour shifts during any hours of the day/night

This Mission Essential position is based at Beale AFB, CA. Although travel is expected to be minimal, the right candidate must be willing and able to deploy anywhere in the world at a moment's notice and deploy for an extended duration. The individual selected must be qualified to support Global Hawk (GH) sensor system maintenance and operations under adverse conditions and potential impending hostilities. This position requires complex troubleshooting skills and knowledge of Electro-mechanical, Infrared, RF Sensor Systems hardware/software and integrated aircraft avionics systems. The right candidate must also possess excellent followership skills, creative time management techniques, ability to be consistent and tenacious while providing support and working technical projects and be an excellent oral and written communicator. This field engineering position requires an array of technical competencies and personality traits that enable one to respond effectively to rapidly changing circumstances. It requires expertise in complex hardware/software system maintenance and working knowledge of sensor system design and theory. Employment is contingent on meeting all medical requirements for the potential short-term overseas deployments (including comprehensive post-offer medical examination) and the ability to maintain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
