Position Overview
The Transport Development Analyst would provide support in development and implementation of processes, tools, systems for RL transportation management and visibility data management. He/ she would be the project lead for transport system/ process related projects and should be able to independently manage the project from start to finish.
He/ she would help manage the systems used by transport teams, work to enhance the systems to be in alignments with the business needs, be responsible for gathering the requirements, designing, developing, testing and implementing new solutions and any other enhancement on these systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for global transport systems related projects for supporting all new RL transport initiatives to ensure on time and high-quality delivery of solutions
Provides technical enablement expertise in all areas of Transportation for operational guidance and best practices. Is invested in business and operational process defining and translating operational improvement opportunities into technical solution capabilities and deliverables.
Provides expert knowledge in support of logistics, transportation, supply chain, and ERP systems and its management - Serve as a technical expert, admin/super-user & lead for TMS and other Supply Chain systems
Provides 1st or 2nd Level support to ensure timely and effective support for global teams internally and externally in accordance with department response time SLAs to include, but not limited to, troubleshooting application errors, database errors, and user login issues as well as performing routine tasks such as creating user accounts, assigning access, and performing system maintenance activities and testing.
Identify methods and areas to improve service, reduce costs, and streamline processes, by presenting multiple alternative scenarios and performing cost/benefit analysis.
Identify core issues with system(s)/ process (s) and address by providing advanced technical solutions.
Execute new EDI integrations and manage existing integrations of various service providers with RL host systems and partner systems.
Participate in project initiatives such as system enhancements, upgrades, and new installations. Configure the software to meet user requirements, execute the validation testing, provide postproduction support. Collaborate with software vendors and other internal departments to meet project timelines.
Leads business requirement gathering sessions methodically documenting for handoff to our 3rd party partners in the solutioning and design of improved systematic behaviors while mindful information security policies and industry best practices.
Leads the full lifecycle change management process from discovery through post implementation.
Provides frontline support for large-scale technical upgrades, etc. to ensure adoption, stabilization, and benefits realization.
Establish and maintain strong business partnerships across functional areas to promote collaboration, teamwork, and organizational alignment as new integration touchpoints are implemented within the enterprise.
Create/revise SOPs, and train the end users, ensures business partner teams have the proper training of the systems and standard technical documentation to effectively execute operationally with focus on reducing to eliminating support contact requests.
Communicate with internal and external partners to manage projects and communicate updates to the stakeholders.
Develop and maintain relationships with solution providers to ensure a deep understanding of capabilities to capitalize on value creation, staying current on new releases and industry best practices to inform the roadmap.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
Experience in transportation/logistics (or equivalent), including planning/analytical/quantitative experience; project management certification, Lean Six Sigma Certification a plus
Effective decision making skills and willingness to accept ownership of the outcome
Able to discern needs from request, prioritize accordingly and provide functional deliverables
Demonstrated strong analytical including data mining and problem solving skills
Ability to surface issues and drive to resolution
Strong initiative and focus on continuous improvement
Demonstrated planning and project management skills. Proven ability to organize multiple projects schedules and meets shifting priorities.
Excellent project management skills including prioritization, scheduling, and documentation
Solid technical understanding and ability to define and refine requirements through a project lifecycle
Proven ability to develop effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding environment.
Advanced competency in Excel, Power Point, Access and other desk top software and must be able to acquire new application skills with minimal direction
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Ability to clearly communicate and provide guidance to business partners from varied background and skills level
Able to acquire new applications skills and/or process, researching independently
Operational Research skills with ability to determine root cause and eliminate problems
Ability to attend and contribute effectively to meetings
Ability to train others on details and effectively cross train in other logistics roles

Must be able to continuously utilize keyboard 8+ hours per day
