Job Summary

This position is accountable for providing supplier quality assurance systems to continually improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance. This position develops supply base capabilities, resolves product problems, and provides technical interface between SPXTS - business unit personnel and suppliers in the U.S. and Asia.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads implementation of supplier quality management strategies.

  • Audits and qualifies potential suppliers per quality requirements.

  • Oversees and improves new product qualification (APQP/PPAP) and receiving inspection methodologies.

  • Resolves problems to improve supplier process capability.

  • Coordinates supplier corrective actions, and nonconformance resolution

  • Monitors measures of supplier performance and drives appropriate action.

  • Supports new product introduction (NPI) process for supplier quality responsibilities.

  • Implements advanced product quality planning methodologies with suppliers.

  • Conducts testing and trains suppliers in various product testing requirements (ANSI/ASTM).

  • Provides quality systems and manufacturing quality support as required.

  • Leads others in embracing and demonstrating the Leadership Standards of SPXTS

  • In coordination with the facility Quality Manager, oversee supplier quality related activities and assignments

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Good organization, prioritization and project management skills

  • PC Skills:
    Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, and statistical software

  • Able to manage multiple priorities

  • Able to travel internationally and domestically

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equal.

  • 5 to 10+ years of experience in quality engineering roles, production or quality

  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, and other quality improvement methodologies

  • Knowledge of statistics.

  • Knowledge of metrology and gaging

Preferred

  • Knowledge of product development processes, ISO 9001, and preventive QE techniques (FMEA, control plans, flow diagrams, PPAP, QFD, DFM, SPC, GD&T, APQP)
  • Cost analysis experience.
  • ASQ Certification is a plus

This is a key technical position, affecting product quality for both installed base & new product introductions, by driving supplier capability assessment & development along with a robust hand-off between GEHC engineering & our suppliers. This position will utilize technical expertise & experience in mechanical & electrical technologies to drive process excellence. Essential Responsibilities: * Effectively assess and evaluate supplier capabilities as an enabler for supplier selection process. * Improve supplier quality performance for assigned suppliers/parts via implementation of a robust Quality Planning process. * Develop positive relationships and work closely with Global Sourcing Leaders, Modality Sourcing Leaders, and Product Sourcing Leaders to manage and implement supplier/engineering changes, New Product Introductions, and transfers. * Interface with Suppliers, Engineering, Service, Manufacturing and Sourcing to drive quality improvements that minimize the Costs of Quality, specifically Failed on Arrival/Install (FOA/FOI) issues, Field Failures, and Factory defects. * Assure Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans are developed and executed at assigned suppliers using the methodologies of, and in compliance with, the CAPA process. * Responsible for leading root cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve supplier quality related issues. * Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external interfaces (engineering, service, manufacturing, sourcing, supplier quality, suppliers): * To influence product design specifications, and * To ensure that customer requirements are understood and achieved. * Up to 40% travel required. Qualifications/Requirements: 1. Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline. 2. Minimum 3 years' experience in manufacturing, design, quality assurance or regulatory assurance. 3. Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical or electrical fabrication and assembly processes. 4. Minimum 3 years' experience in problem solving/root-cause analytical skills to lead and influence others to drive change (cross-functionally and globally). 5. Minimum 2 years' experience with demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management System tools, continuous improvement methodologies and in-depth understanding of site level products and related processes. 6. Fluent in communicating in English (both written and verbal). Desired Characteristics: 1. Two or more years of experience, with proven leadership, in design or manufacturing, including use of DFx tools (Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, Design for Reliability, Design for Test). 2.
