ANNUAL ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $72,000.00 - 89,000.00 (Salaries are paid biweekly)

Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins is seeking a Sr Supervisor, Safety and Security to join our Transfort and Parking Services departments. This is a full-time salaried position with the City of Fort Collins, with an anticipated hiring salary range of $72,000-$89,000 a year! The Sr Supervisor, Safety and Security will oversee Transfort & Parking Services' safety and security division. They will Develop and administer Transfort & Parking Services safety and security initiatives, programs, and projects and ensure the department complies with Federal Transit Administration safety and security regulations and required programs. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of progressive related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience. We are looking for someone with a passion for safety and security to bring their skills in leadership, collaboration, and integrity to the City!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Facilitates a culture of safety, excellence, and innovation across Transfort and Parking Services Department (TPS).

  • Directs TPS in safety and security-related activities, including the development and administration of the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan required by the Federal Transit Administration.

  • Develops, implements, administers, and monitors the safety and security initiatives, programs, and projects within TPS.

  • Oversees numerous work groups, including the Transit Service Officers, Contracted SecurityProviders, and TPS Safety & Security Program Assistant.

  • Participates in the capital planning project review process to ensure safety and security improvements are at the forefront of project design and concept phases. Attends project review meetings and site walks.

  • Assess and forecast safety performance through key performance indicators, data review, incident history, and audits. Sets safety and security goals and objectives for the department.

  • Directs the necessary behavioral or environmental changes needed to improve safety and security in a creative, efficient, and cost-effective manner.

  • Performs incident investigation and review for safety and security events.

  • Liaison to multiple departments, including Police, SRM, and EPS.

  • Monitors legislation and proactively develops safety and training policies and programs in compliance with Federal Transit Administration regulations, OSHA regulations, and other local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Informs and advises leaders of local, global, and industry issues and best practices that may impact operational safety or security.

  • Assists with citizen-related safety and security issues. Partners with various stakeholders to help target and mitigate risks.

  • Prepares and files reportable incidents with the Federal Transit Administration.

  • Participates in City Special Events Team.

  • Chair of PDT Safety Committee involving all departments within PDT and SRM.

  • Chair of Transfort and Parking Services Safety and Security Review Committees.

  • Instructs safety and security-related training.

  • Instruct classes on behalf of the U.S. Department of Transportation.

  • Limited on-call responsibility.

Required Qualifications

MinimumPreferredCollege degree or equivalent work experience. Some positions may require functionally related certification or advanced degrees Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school

  • 5-7 years of progressive related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Valid driver's license required. May be asked to obtain within 3 years:, Transit Safety and Security Certification (TSSP) U.S. DOT*, Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) U.S. DOT* CPR Certification, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED), Current Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is also highly desired.
