Description: The Sr.

Consultant I will have active participation in a range of market strategy projects essential to KP's membership and margin goals. Provide analytical/strategic-thinking and leadership skills that enable project teams to: Isolate business issues; Design and execute analytics for studying business issues (market research, scenario planning, forecasting, market share, profitability, etc); Bring and some cases provide technical/content expertise (competitive intelligence, utilization, financial analysis, deep data analysis & programming); Vet findings and make formal recommendations to senior levels of KP leadership; Create documents (strategic segment plans, competitive assessments) that inform critical strategic issues.

Essential Functions:

Market Strategy and Analysis: Leads 2-3 major market strategy teams concurrently.

Proactively identifies key business line issues.

Manages multiple complex market strategy/business line issues. Establishes accountabilities within business line strategy groups and facilitates decision making.

Leads development of recommendations that determine course of further work and/or organizational change for marketing strategy. Serves as subject matter/technical expert to Strategic Market Planning Analysts and Consultants.

Competitive/Market Assessment: Works with business/segment owners to identify key market and competitor issues.

Manages multiple deadlines. Interprets the impact of events and macro trends on the industry. Performs more complex industry competitor analyses that respond to the needs of the organization to produce strategic conclusions.

Develops analytic framework required to analyze market and competitor issues. Owns the outcome- represents findings to stakeholders. Serves as market and competitor subject matter/technical expert.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience

Minimum seven (7) years of related experience, OR Master's degree and minimum five (5) years experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

Thorough knowledge of membership, rates, financial, economic and competitive data.

Regularly contributes to the development of new market strategy concepts, techniques, and standards.

Considered functional expert in market strategy within KP.

Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods.

Employs expertise as a generalist or specialist.

Highly skilled in MS Excel, Access and other databases. Must know how to manipulate databases such as MS Excel and/or Access, as well as manipulating reports and generating reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum eight (8) years of related experience.

Master's degree (public health, business, healthcare administration, etc).

The Strategic Market Planning Analyst provides analytical/strategic-thinking in support of project teams including 1) isolating business issues; 2) design and executing analysis for studying business issues (market research, scenario planning, forecasting, market share, profitability, etc); 3) vet findings and make formal recommendations to senior levels of KP leadership; and 4) create documents (strategic plans, segmentation reports) that inform critical strategic issues. The role requires the ability to identify business questions, identify and gather relevant data, structure data into a usable format, explore the data through analysis until insights are gleaned, and communicate insights to various audiences to support decision making. Essential Responsibilities: Collect and organize data from mainframe files, data warehouse reports, vendor extracts, departmental spreadsheets and databases, and internet/intranet sites for easy use by internal business and analytical clients. Develops data books for several Lines of Business, manages membership analyses, financial analysis and supports rate position analytics along with other strategic projects. Perform basic analysis, work with team to explain data assumptions, identify key trends, outliers, etc. Works with Manager and/or other business owners to investigate the performance drivers and identify complex market strategy/business line issues. Develops recommendations to address problems/issues and informs the supervisor, project leader or manager. Engages with the region by collecting and disseminating competitive intelligence on the market, including daily blog posting, competitor profiling, and market context analysis. Collaborates with Director and consultants within Strategic Market Planning to determine other duties as directed. Basic Qualifications: Experience Minimum one (1) years of experience in marketing strategy, market/strategic planning, product management/development, financial services and/or consulting is required. Education Bachelors degree in economics, math, statistics, business administration, healthcare administration or related field License, Certification, Registration N/A Additional Requirements: Experience leading complex, interdisciplinary projects to a timely completion is required. Analytic skills, ability to structure complex analyses including pricing, financial, competitive and economic data. Highly organized self-starter with the ability to perform multiple tasks and strong attention to detail. Skilled in MS Excel, Power Point, and Word, required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including development of presentations (MS PowerPoint) required.
