Senior Static Equipment Engineer
Responsible for performing mechanical engineering in design, fabrication, installation, and start-up of fixed and rotating equipment. Applying plant design specifications and industry practices on mechanical equipment during scoping of repairs or replacements. Site champion for managing PIP engineering standards. Manages 3rd party engineering companies performing Level 2 & 3 FFS, develops and maintains site procedures for compliance with PSM 1910.119 Mechanical Integrity and technical liaison for the fixed equipment mechanical integrity inspection team.
Your scope of responsibility
Serve as a member of cross-functional team as needed to resolve equipment problems, investigate incidents, and improve equipment reliability.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
Assist pipe and equipment designers in developing the detailed designs using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software. Review and approved designs.
Research, design, specify, install, and develop maintenance strategy on mechanical equipment, plant systems to meet RAGAGEP requirements. Apply knowledge of engineering principles.
Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement maintenance procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
Perform functions and duties in a manner that protects personal safety as well as the safety of all personnel on site.
Promptly report all safety, health or environmental incidents or issues
Monitor operating performance of mechanical equipment to ensure availability is maximized, performance is up to expected levels and cost of operations, repair and ownership is optimized.
Provide technical and field support to Operations and Maintenance departments for mechanical equipment.
Recommend design modifications or repair scopes to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
Conduct research or analyze design feasibility for improvement projects and determine ROI for those projects to justify capital investment.
Investigate equipment failures or performance changes while diagnosing potential operational issues. Make recommendations to Operations and Maintenance on actions to correct and return to normal operation.
Provide input to reliability improvement/tracking programs for critical and non-critical mechanical assets.
Develop and evaluate alternate designs and technologies to improve mechanical equipment reliability. Lead feasibility evaluations, changes in operating conditions, impact of possible new applications. Provide estimates on installation and commissioning cost as necessity for these potential modifications.
Specify system components or direct modification for mechanical designs to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Assist in root cause failure analysis on critical equipment failures.
Perform or coordinate with 3rd party labs component failure analysis as required.
Witness repairs to equipment and serve as a coordinator on critical equipment repairs as needed.
Initiate capital projects to maintain/enhance business goals.
Participate on capital project teams and aid in development of specifications and supporting detail design efforts.
Review project design packages for proper design regarding reliability, application, and maintenance.
Assist in the development and monitoring of mechanical equipment preventative maintenance programs.
Develop, review, and maintain equipment specifications as related to purchasing, installation, operation, and maintenance/repairs.
Develop and implement alterations and revisions to equipment to improve business performance of the operating units.
Provide various reports as needed.
Always present a professional image, to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
Assists other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
What you bring to OCI
Education, Experience, and/or Training
Bachelor's degree or equivalent mechanical, industrial, civil or chemical engineering required.
At least eight years of experience in the chemical processing or refining industry.
