Role Summary:

Join a team with varied strengths and grow! The Digital Works Software TPM is responsible for the leadership and orchestration of all technical aspects of customer-facing projects for military or commercial customers.

In this role, you will be a player and coach capable of leading targeted software engineering efforts as well as being an active contributor in the creation of work you're doing. Preferred Location: Austin TX Other Possible locations: Cincinnati OH or Washington DC

Essential Responsibilities:

The Digital Works Software team is responsible for product and service delivery where software engineering support is required. This includes everything from supporting requirements and work scope creation in the pre-sales process to product implementations and the creation of new or custom products, solutions, and services.

You will operate in lock-step with customers, sales, product management, project management and data science to define and deliver customer specific outcomes. In addition, you will:

This role will combine the customer vision with technical feasibility to convert business needs into functional specifications/user stories to build and execute towards the work you're doing defined for the project.

Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and support the estimate with facts

Balance the technical execution of customer specific projects while coordinating tightly with project management counterparts to deliver contract commitments on time and within budget.

Demonstrate outstanding persuasion and influencing skills that ensure alignment between customer, product management and engineering team.

Be regarded as an authority in Agile Methodology; translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable work through problem decomposition and planning

Implement metrics to inform the business on the health of project execution and development practices

Engage with the product development teams; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, negotiate dependencies and priorities as well as supply to design activities and decisions

Drive collaboration across various practice areas such as Services, UX, Architects, and Data Science demonstrating deep understanding of technology stack and impact on final work

Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments

Take ownership of tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members.

Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with Engineering policies and procedures

Has the ability to evaluate basic technology choices and articulate trade-offs

Applies principles of SDLC and Lean/Agile/Scrum methodologies to deliver high quality, secured, and scalable software.


  • Bachelor's Degree in business, computer science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of technical experience across disciplines and functions.

Experience in the agile software design and requirements documentation.

Experience working on external customer facing projects

Experience leading an agile software development and release cycle environment.

Experience in gathering user requests and requirements- organizing and detailing those for software engineers to implement.

Demonstrated customer focus: evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives

Change oriented: actively generates process improvements, champions and motivates change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and challenging priorities and executes accordingly
