Sr Staff Software Engineer

VIZIO’s Technology – Software and Services team is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work together within the team and contribute to innovate VIZIO products. The Sr. Staff Software Engineer is going to report to the supervisor directly, who is leading a team, and will be assigned tasks requiring a certain level of insight in terms of specific technology point of view.

What You Will Do Architect, design, implement, and test software related to our mobility and TV software / services. The Sr. Staff Engineer will manage a team and communicate designs and decisions within the team and will encourage new ideas and solutions.

Improve and maintain Mobile infrastructure such as build-pipelines, testing automation, release process, etc Be involved with every stage of the application software development process Code and build high quality mobile applications Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many cross functional teams, architects, product owners and engineer Make critical decisions that contribute to the success of the product Participate in cross-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other engineering teams Be a multiplier and have a passion for team and team members’ success Maintain high morale and motivate the delivery team to go above and beyond Vocally advocate for technical excellence and helping the teams make good decisions Help continuously improving team productivity, code quality, tool, and technology adoption. Optimization and fine-tuning of the software application. Working in Agile mode, which includes, attending the daily status meeting with the entire team.

Responsible for resolving the complexity of business rule to the form which can be understood by Dev team Research and implement new design patterns & standards to improve the existing workflow for the development of the team. Collaborate within and across the teams including QA and 3rd party partners to deliver a project on time. Research and implement a functional requirement using up to date technology and skills.

Review the software design and implementations. Maintain the code clean, and modular for cross-platform architecture. Support participation in various trade and industry events, including conferences and sponsored activities.

About You Bachelor’s Degree or greater in Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, Electrical Engineering, or related field. At least 6 years of Swift-iOS software engineering experience and at least 10 years of Mobile software engineering experience Experience in architecture, design, prototyping, software development, code review and unit testing for mobile applications. Experience in executing and delivery of features by collaborating with many cross functional teams, product owners and architects.

Exposure to cross platform development frameworks ReactNative, KMM, Flutter Experience with mobile app development in iOS, WatchOS. Hands on experience in Objective C, Swift, Swift UI Hands on with XCode and Android Studio Experience working on peer-to-peer connectivity frameworks like Bluetooth, Bonjour, NFC etc Experience in connectivity with media devices like Smart TV, STB devices from mobile apps Familiar with mobile app design patterns like OOPS, MVC, MVVM, VIPER etc. Extensive experience with IP-based communications and protocols, for example:

HTTP, TLS, REST, Websockets, JSON, XML, Protobufs, Flatbuffers, RTP, RTSP, HLS Good to have exposure to Android and cross platform technologies eg. React Native, KMM, Flutter etc Good to have experience in developing media and entertainment apps on mobile platforms in IPTV or OTT domain. Good to have experience with streaming protocols like HLS and MPEG-Dash and native DRM (Fairplay and Widevine) You are excited to have an impact on a platform that is used by millions.
