Your Role

Aptiv's custom silicon management group provides critical custom Silicon for all Aptiv products including Autonomous Driving, ADAS, Infotainment, Zonal Control, and others. This team translates the system requirements of Aptiv's next-generation products into the SOC/IC requirements and architectural design, then manages the technical performance of external SOC/IC design partners who design the custom silicon SOCs/ICs for use in Aptiv's products. We are looking for a senior staff design engineer to work closely with multiple engineering teams who are focused on the development of Aptiv's future generation of products. In your daily job you will:

  • Design and implement network processing subsystem microarchitecture for automotive SoCs.

  • Evaluate the impact of microarchitecture decisions, considering various trade-offs to achieve the most effective design implementation for the product goals.

  • Coordinate and monitor key deliverables and issues involving Aptiv's internal teams and third-party IP partners. Ensure timely and efficient progress in project milestones.

  • Work closely with SoC architects and the software team to ensure seamless integration and interface between hardware components and software layers.

  • Conduct thorough design reviews to confirm the comprehensive implementation of required SoC features. Ensure designs meet all specifications and quality standards.

  • Collaborate with our design partners and support them through the execution of the SoC to ensure first-pass silicon success.

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.

  • 10+ years of experience in SoC design or verification, with a focus on network processing subsystems.

  • Deep understanding of network processing technologies including Ethernet MAC, PHY, Switch, MACsec, TSN, Network DMA, packet processing, and IO virtualization

  • Strong understanding of Quality of Service (QoS), security protocols, and fault tolerance design.

  • Experience with designing, verifying, or validating network processing subsystem in the SoC

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or equivalent.

  • 12+ years of experience with ARM CPU based ASIC/SOC design.

  • Experience with legacy automotive networking standards such as CAN, LIN, and FlexRay.

  • Knowledge of automotive functional safety (ISO26262)

  • Familiarity with automotive cybersecurity standards and protocols.

  • Experience in supporting SoC debug and emulator/FPGA based validation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary Range: $ $146,000 to $271,000

  • As a candidate for this position, your salary and will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Aptiv considers relevant to the hiring decision.
