Under direction, functions as individual contributor as well as directly supervises technical/professional occupational and environmental health and safety program staff.


  • Administers the procedures of the occupational and environmental health and safety program consistent with the company's general policies concerning health services.

  • Administers a budget to meet assessed needs.

  • Coordinates the necessary resources to operate the occupational health service.

  • Collaborates in the design of controls for occupational injury and illness prevention.

  • Assigns work responsibilities and work schedules, monitors work assignments, and evaluates staff performance.

  • Coordinates orientation of new occupational health nurses and other health services personnel.

  • Develops and provides opportunities for in-service education/staff development and continuing professional education.

  • Ensures compliance with current laws, standards and regulations governing workforce and work site safety, health and environmental issues.

  • Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of health information consistent with laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrates compliance with state laws governing nursing practice.

  • Plans and implements health promotion and disease prevention strategies and programs.

  • Coordinates the site case management program.

  • Identifies changes in case management practice and treatment plans to bring about appropriate care and cost-effective outcomes.

  • Assesses the health needs of employees and employee populations.

  • Implements occupational and environmental health and safety education and training.

  • Monitors the work environment to assure the health and safety of employees.

  • Initiates investigative interventions such as walkthroughs or job hazard analysis as needed.

  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to foster the provision of effective health, safety, and environmental services.

  • Collaborates with researchers and other members of the occupational and environmental health and safety team in participating in research.

  • Identifies resources that describe relevant research findings and applies them to practice.

  • Maintains awareness of technological and professional changes associated with occupational and environmental health and safety.

  • Monitors and documents the quality and effectiveness of care, services, and products provided to client(s).

  • Assumes leadership role in advancing profession.

  • Uses an ethical decision-making framework in all activities.

  • Provides learning opportunities for student nurses in the occupational health setting.

  • Monitors the quality and effectiveness of vendor services.

  • Engages actively in efforts to affect policy making and practice governing employee, work site, and environmental, health and safety issues.



  • RN with current licensure to practice in the state of employment (IL)

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree recommended


  • Must possess previous occupational health experience

  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing recommended

  • Basic knowledge of related fields ie. safety, ergonomics, toxicology, industrial hygiene, epidemiology etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION: * Senior Manager, Global Consolidation/Reporting The Senior Manager is an accounting manager for Abbott's global affiliates/divisions on complex accounting and reporting issues including Acquisition/Purchase accounting, divestiture accounting and reporting as well as analyzing and reviewing the deferred margin process for a portion of established pharmaceutical business. Other responsibilities include working with Abbott Transition Office, Corporate Tax, and Corporate Reporting group on various initiatives. The position provides technical subject matter expertise in the areas of purchase accounting, US GAAP reporting for OUS locations for both entity and Abbott Divisional performance reporting issues. * Provide full range of support to corporate strategic projects such as acquisitions, separation and reorganization from accounting perspective; work with Corporate Reporting, Strategic Projects Directors, Divisions Finance and the affiliate FD's to execute the purchase accounting processes; maintain appropriate process controls; reconcile and report goodwill and intangible / IPRD and other cash flow supporting schedules. * Analyze, calculate and record correcting performance/exchange journal entries versus Prior Year and Plan for Acquisition and Divestiture accounting to properly reflect consolidated results for benchmark reporting. * Oversee a portion of the Established Products supply chain process changes and deferred margin process in terms of any flow changes, monthly margin process and margin profile analysis (billed, earned and deferred), as well as margin by source and the tax impact to Abbott's consolidated results. * Provide support to Corp Reporting, Abbott Divisions and Affiliates' accounting processes from overall consolidation perspective; investigate and resolve any reporting issues; record, analyze and report top-side adjustments such as intercompany dividend elimination, Intercompany Non-op and loans, VAT tax balances, webforms activity for various account roll-forwards, price adjustments, and balance sheet flex for non-USD denominated accounts recorded on topside ledgers. * Assist the Corporate Financial Reporting Dept. in performing technical accounting research and ad hoc accounting analyses for senior management, as well as assisting in the preparation of the Form 10Q's and annual report. * Develop, implement, and lead country-specific and global accounting initiatives to ensure Abbott Consolidated results are compliant with US GAAP reporting as well as with Abbott corporate accounting requirements. This includes providing and reviewing any pending entity ownership structure changes that impact Abbott. * Lead the accounting process for tracking accruals, spending and balance sheet reporting. * Provide information and support to Corporate Tax about the deferred margin by source and Corporate top-side ledger transactions. * Supervise one Sr. Financial Analyst. ACCOUNTABILITY/SCOPE: * The Senior Manager position requires a significant degree of technical accounting and reporting knowledge to deal with divergent, complex, and often confidential accounting issues. Must be able to effectively manage conflicting priorities. Timeliness is essential for ensuring business needs are met. * This position interfaces with Abbott leadership in various groups across the organization. MINIMUM EDUCATION: * Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance. CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
