This job contributes to Starbucks' success by supporting the delivery and administration of the international relocation, tax, and immigration programs and processes and US and Canada domestic relocation programs and processes. Serves as a subject matter expert to PRO, hiring managers, and business leaders on international relocation, tax, and immigration and US and Canada domestic relocation matters, escalations, and costs. Serves as a primary contact and provides support to partners and their families that transfer internationally or domestically within the US and Canada. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks' guiding principles.

As a sr. specialist, Mobility, Tax, and Immigration, you will…

  • Administers policies, processes, systems, and tools in support of Starbucks's international mobility program primarily for permanent transfers but supports short and long-term assignments, international remote workers, business travelers, and international short-term remote workers as required.

  • Administers policies, processes, systems, and tools in support of Starbucks's US and Canada relocation programs for non-executive relocations.

  • Respond to candidate and partner inquiries on international relocation, tax, immigration, and US and Canada domestic relocation-related matters.

  • Work directly with candidates and partners to analyze complex international relocation, tax, immigration, and US and Canada domestic relocation matters, advise on potential risks and challenges, and resolve issues by facilitating stakeholder discussions that balance business and partner needs.

  • Identify and resolve complex international relocation, tax, and immigration and US and Canada domestic relocation issues, assume leadership roles in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances - solid sense of accountability and sound personal judgment.

  • Works with outside vendors and consultants to ensure benefits and services are delivered correctly and coordinates day-to-day operations and relationships.

  • Lead regular trainings and updates to communicate policies and program and process changes with Global PRO for Talent Acquisition and Business Partners

  • Lead training as a part of onboarding new partners in Global PRO for Talent Acquisition and Business Partners

  • Provide guidance to partners, hiring managers, recruiters, and business partners on highly sensitive, confidential matters.

  • Ability to drive program effectiveness and high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Stay up to date on international relocation, tax, and immigration-related and US and Canada domestic relocation matters and regulations

  • Partner with the Global Mobility manager to develop and improve programs, policies, and administration of the international mobility and US and Canada domestic relocation process to meet Starbuck's business needs while ensuring cost-effective programs

  • Revise and maintain international mobility program and US and Canada relocation program benefit summaries, repayment agreements, guidelines, AOP documents, and matrices.

  • Complete periodic audits of the international relocation, tax, and immigration and US and Canada relocation programs for file and reporting accuracy, where necessary

  • Support Accounting team with monthly cross charges to international markets for expatriate assignments and other costs in GMTI cost center.

  • Assist Compensation Accounting and Payroll in the reporting and management of intentional and domestic relocation and tax accruals.

  • Support international year-end payroll and tax process (reporting, timeline, communication, etc.) with outside tax vendors and Starbucks US and International PRO and Payroll teams.

  • Maintain system records, including HUB and Teams sites, to ensure accurate and timely information/documentation.

We'd love to hear from people with:

  • Bachelor and/or graduate degree in business or related field

  • 2-3 years of international relocation, tax, and immigration experience with a comprehensive knowledge of program process and administration either with a relocation management company, tax or immigration vendor, or an in-house program for a corporate entity.

  • 2-3 years mobility experience with at least 1 year of US/Canada domestic relocation experience and 1 year of international relocation, tax, and immigration experience with a comprehensive knowledge of program process and administration either with a relocation management company, tax or immigration firm, or an in-house program for a corporate entity.

  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours to accommodate international time zones.

  • Ability to work across cultures respecting diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication - ability to interface and influence all levels of the organization.

  • 2 years of familiarity with GAAP Accounting and US and Canada Payroll

  • Experience working for a large, fast-paced multinational organization.

  • Technically proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook.

  • Ability to plan, problem solve, execute, and multi-task with flexibility.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Strong multi-tasking skills while continuing to provide a high level of customer service.

  • Be able to thrive and make sound decisions in an ambiguous work environment.

  • Relocation Certification (GMS) is a plus.
