Environmental Health & Safety "EH&S" is responsible for designing, developing and implementing EH&S procedures, programs, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements and to eliminate or minimize EH&S risks to the Company, its employees, the environment and the communities in which it does business.
Researches regulatory issues and product development and testing procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate local, state and federal regulatory agencies (NRC, DOT, EPA, etc.)
Identifies facility safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
Supports facility personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
Serves as member of the safety committee.
Works on projects of moderate scope and complexity.
Provides technical support to facility personnel to ensure compliance with applicable occupational safety and health and radioactive material regulations.
Reviews injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
Audits and inspects the facility to ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal regulations.
Participates and responds to investigations of environmental health incidents and emergencies and recommends appropriate corrective actions when needed.
Identifies possible solutions to a variety of technical problems and takes actions to resolve.
Assist with the coordination and management all aspects of the environmental health safety program, including waste processing.
Identify potential safety hazards related to radioactive and non-radioactive materials.
Informs the Mgr, RSO/EHS when situations require follow-up actions.
Performs other job duties as assigned.
BS degree in EH&S related field or Sciences preferred
2 or more years of professional full-time experience in am EHS or Radiation Safety role
Experience in EH&S Hazard Waste Compliance, RCRA experience
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to hear, write (English), and speak (English) clearly in order to communicate in manufacturing setting - required.
Proficient in Microsoft office
Must work well with others and understand how to be successful in a Team environment.
Must be detail oriented, organized, able to multi-task, a self-starter, and self-motivated
The primary work environment consists of a manufacturing facility for the production of radiopharmaceuticals, which must be kept clean, orderly, properly lighted and maintained in optimum operating condition. Employees handle radioactive materials and are exposed to very low amounts of radiation that are deemed safe by current standards. The facility is operated under well-controlled and closely monitored conditions that are regulated by both State and Federal agencies, and that are enforced by the corporate internal quality and regulatory group. Each staff member will receive specific training in keeping radiation exposures within regulatory guidelines and he/she will be routinely monitored for their exposure to radiation. Noise levels are considered low to moderate.
