Job Description:

Component Engineer with counterfeit parts expertise to support several avionics, ground, and space programs, IRADs, and proposals.

Be able to:

  • Lead and serve as process owner for Counterfeit Parts processes, including

  • Disposition of potential counterfeit alerts

  • Supplier risk assessments

  • Organizational training

  • Process improvement

  • Industry collaboration and standards implementation

  • Understand specified and derived program requirements applicable to PMP (Parts Materials Processes).

  • Provide inputs to program to ensure implementation of PMP requirements.

  • Provide leadership in the implementation of PMP requirements.

  • Provide leadership using current engineering principles in the early review of PMP selection.

  • Resolve obsolescence/EOL issues.

  • Document specifications of parts or equipment to meet PMP requirements.

  • Standardize and consolidate parts and processes.

  • Technical risk management of custom or long-lead parts.

  • Resolve supplier technical problems.

  • Resolve part- related manufacturing problems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or Physics.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Components or Electrical Engineer.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Possession of a security clearance or the ability to obtain one would be a plus.

  • Knowledge and understanding of aerospace standards covering counterfeit parts, including AS5553, AS6081, AS6496, and AS6174.

  • Experience with product data management tools and bill of material (BOM) grading tools such as Agile, Matrix, Silicon Experts or IHS.

  • Experience and competence with Microsoft office tools.

  • Experience with and in-depth technical knowledge of, but not limited to, passive and active electronic components, connectors, wire and cable, metal finishes, tin whisker mitigation, lead-free control, obsolescence and end of life management, COTS, and counterfeit parts.

  • Experience in military design requirement and military environments.

  • Team player able to work in small and large team environments and have strong communications skills.

This is an opportunity to identify and improve resiliency weaknesses, provide obsolescence management at the Segment level and work with program teams to develop alternate design or Supply Chain solutions to sustain on-going projects. Engage in new design activity and Value Engineering Events aligning component part selection with lower cost part selection and Corporate initiatives. Responsibilities: * Assess and monitor supplier risk across the ES Segment * Provide leadership for resiliency improvement and strategic sourcing strategies * Develop metrics at the Segment level identifying obsolescence risk by program * Serve as the Segment technical contact during problem resolution on components such as hybrids, microcircuits, semiconductors, resistors and capacitors and other electrical devices using risk mitigation methods, root cause analysis and other problem-solving techniques * Engage program teams and follow recommended part and or design changes through to incorporation * Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with internal customers and key stakeholders * Report Segment details to upper level management * Utilize Silicone Expert to facilitate alternate recommendations * Engage with Segment Should Cost and Value Engineering to support design and sourcing suggestions * Monitor proposal activity to identify lower risk and cost sourcing opportunities * Background in the design for manufacturing of electronic assemblies * Familiar with Mil Specs for different component commodities * Knowledge of MIL/ IPC workmanship and performance standards related to electrical CCA assemblies and Boxes is desired. * Travel approximately 20% Qualifications: * 6+ years of relevant experience with BS/BA (Bachelors) or 4+ years of relevant experience with MS/MA/MBA (Masters) * Lean / Six Sigma Certification – Green Belt or higher preferred * Training and experience in the use of Root Cause and Corrective analysis desired Please be aware that many of our positions require a security clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
