Position Description:

This role will harness the power of data to drive and deliver data-driven robust commercial insights that inform critical business questions arising from projects of varying complexity and scope in such areas as commercial development/business development, value-evidence and patient outcomes, clinical trials design strategy, and market access strategy. S/he will frame business problems, design analytic solutions, and deliver insights that influence business strategy and planning.

This role requires a unique combination of skills as s/he will need to be able to gain the trust of business partners, have an innovative mindset to think through novel ways to help to make better decisions, and execute on the idea by gathering the necessary data and building the necessary analytical models. Specifically, this role will use management consulting skills, business knowledge, and data science skills and tools to analyze and address issues in order to drive alignment on solutions for business results.

This role will partner with dynamic team of subject-matter experts that comes from diverse backgrounds and experiences - commercial development and marketing, market access and pricing, outcomes research, among others. As a core member of the cross functional project teams, s/he will collaborate to turn data into meaningful insights. S/he will also leverage the depth and breadth of subject matter expertise across the GCA and other groups at Merck to ensure the delivery of robust insights and recommendations to the business.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Recent MBA preferred

Required Experience and

Skills:
  • 3+ years of experience in analytics, consulting (healthcare, pharmaceutical, management, strategy), or related fields

  • Strong analytic, problem-solving and quantitative skills; demonstrated ability to quickly identify analytics needs, build effective solution options, derive insights and make strategic business recommendations

  • Data science/advanced analytics tools and techniques (e.g., R/Python, Alteryx)

  • Comfortable with ambiguity, and able to act decisively in tight timelines

  • Strong oral and written communication, including demonstrated ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear and succinct insights and presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively independently and to build strong cross-functional partnerships; Highly collaborative

  • Ability to manage simultaneously multiple projects and business priorities involving a variety of internal and external partners and cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred Experience and

Skills:
  • Pharmaceutical experience is a plus; Experience with pharmaceutical industry data sources, including claims data, patient-level transactional data, EMR, among others

  • Fluency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)

We are seeking a highly talented and motivated individual with experience operating in a regulated laboratory to provide oversight and authorship of standard operating procedures (SOPs) as well as manage the training program, which includes administration of the electronic training system, development of curricula, and coordination of departmental training across two sites. Responsibilities: * Provides oversight of regulated bioanalytical SOPs, including the coordination of new/revised procedures with subject matter experts (SMEs), SOP authorship, and tracking of periodic review cycles. * Administration of electronic documentum systems used for SOP storage, electronic approval, and interfacing with other systems. * Provides training administration for staff located across two sites, including the development and maintenance of training curricula, communication of new trainings, and monitoring of training progress. * Partners with other departments in the development of new and/or innovative training practices to cover technical, quality, and scientific topics for the organization. * Supports internal/external audits with provision of training records and the communication of training practices. * Works with area SMEs, management, and internal quality assurance organizations to gather metrics and assist in the development of process improvements for the department * Operates within the confines of departmental SOPs and regulatory guidances Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: * B.S. Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry or related sciences with at least 3 years of industry experience or an M.S. with 1 year of related experience.
