Our Opportunity:

The Senior Specialist is responsible for maintaining accounting records and internal control compliance for assigned areas and/or entities within the Charles Schwab enterprise. This role is also responsible for supporting accounting management in responding to business partner, enterprise finance, central planning, audit and regulator inquiries

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for performing various monthly and quarterly financial accounting functions within the Controller's group.

  • Responsible for maintaining the financial accounting books and records of the parent company and various subsidiaries.

  • Execute internal controls to ensure a SOX compliant control environment.

  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure timely and accurate recording of business transactions.

  • Prepare journal entries and monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.

What you have:

  • Solid understanding of GAAP

  • Highly proficient in excel

  • Familiar with the capabilities of large-company enterprise reporting systems.

  • PeopleSoft Financials experience a plus

  • Experience with Internally Developed Software

and Project Costing a plus

  • Strong attention to detail and supporting documentation

  • Articulates views in a clear and concise manner

  • Proactive, results-oriented operating style

  • Ability to identify issues and seek resolutions

  • Efficient time management skills

  • Exceptional at building relationships

  • 3 - 5 years of related accounting experience

  • Public-company experience a plus

  • Financial services industry experience a plus

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance

Our Opportunity: Executive Services provides personal and highly sophisticated advice and financial planning to executives from corporate clients in Schwab Corporate Services (SCRS & SPS). As a part of Acquisition Delivery, Executive Services helps executives become financially fit in and outside of their employer-sponsored equity compensation and retirement accounts by deepening client relationships and assisting them with complex financial affairs. The Executive Services approach offers a one-on-one relationship between financial consultants located in several key-positioned satellite branches and leverages subject-matter experts in areas such as Tax, Trust, and Estate Planning and Equity Compensation What you'll do: As a Sr. Specialist on the Executive Services Team you will: * Partner with multiple Financial Consultants located both onsite and remotely to perform operational activities to support sales efforts. Demonstrate a passion for customer service and be a positive role model to colleagues. * Develop client relationships and be a second point of contact for practice clients while delivering a high level of customer service and attention to business development opportunities. * Utilize problem solving skills to respond to client inquiries including escalations; cost basis information, preparing advised offer applications, letters of authorization, powers of attorney etc. Implement thorough product knowledge while supporting and expanding the client experience. * Take initiative to identify, participate in and manage special projects, assignments and attend team meetings. * Maintain all related files and current marketing materials to insure audit readiness and department accordance with compliance, oversight and supervision requirements. * Stay current on compliance and oversight changes to insure the team remains within policy. * Proactively identify areas of improvement that will assist our group in reaching team goals.
