Quality Engineer Senior Specialist needed to define, develop, modify, apply and implement quality evaluation, controls systems and protocols for remote sensing space applications. Able to work to improve processes through statistical and data analysis and support Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system. The applicant shall be able to effectively communicate program status and compliance to both internal and external customers. Additional responsibilities include travel to suppliers and coordination of support activities across multiple programs that range from inspections, associated with incoming material and build of assemblies, to review of test setups against procedure and data against pass fail criteria. Interface with customer quality representatives for build and test activities. Lead/participate on Material Review Board and Failure Review Board meetings; provide drawing reviews, test procedure reviews and customer interface to these activities. Insure design modifications or updates meet all quality requirements while sitting as a member on the Configuration Control Board. May coordinate supplier support across multiple programs and may travel to suppliers to perform hardware inspections.
Bachelor degree in Engineering (or equivalent engineering work experience) with 6+ years of Quality experience or Master degree in Engineering with 4+ years of prior related experience
Travel greater than 75%
4+ years experience with quality control methods and procedures, military specifications as they apply to the electronics industry, reliability requirements of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical equipment and surveillance methods and procedures.
2+ years experience with manufacturing, materials, contract administration, industrial, test and design engineering
Efficient with GD&T with 2+ years of experience
Efficient in use of mechanical measuring tools, such as micrometer, caliper, thread plug gauges, etc
Experience and knowledge leading root cause and corrective action boards (MRB/FRB)
Experience and knowledge of performing quality management systems audits at suppliers
Ability to work periodic on-call support over off-shifts, weekends and holidays
Ability to work different shifts as needed throughout the year
Ability to work in a cleanroom environment for extended periods of time
Knowledge of quality control methods and procedures, military specifications as they apply to the electronics industry, reliability requirements of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical equipment and surveillance methods and procedures.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing, materials, contract administration, industrial, test and design engineering.
Familiarization with metal finishes including MIL-DTL-5541, AMS 2404, and MIL-G-45204
Preferred Additional Skills:
Working knowledge of the NASA-STD-8739.1, 2, 3 4, and/or J-STD-001 (with Space Addendum) or have current certifications
Familiar with Configuration Control Management
Experience and knowledge in APQP
Previous experience managing cost accounts
Small team leadership experience
Project Engineering experience
Ability to frequently interact with internal company contacts and customers
Experience with performing Failure Analysis (FA) and Construction Analysis (CA) utilizing the necessary electrical tests and measurements, plus many of the advanced analytical techniques of physics, metallurgy, and chemistry
Component Engineering experience for high reliability parts
Experience with EEE internal visual inspection per MIL-STD-750 and 883
Familiar with INST-EEE-002
Familiar with or auditing experience to ISO9001 and/or AS9100
Familiar with or experience with assembly of complex mechanisms and assemblies
