The New Product Development Solutions Directorsets and executes the product and solution strategy for Aetna in an array of areas including our wellbeing strategy, vertical strategy, and emerging markets across our commercial benefits.
By deeply understanding the needs of customers and brokers/consultants in this market, the New Product Development Director looks across the entire portfolio of products, including core medical, ancillary, consumer, digital and pharmacy,as well as clinical care models, networks and services offerings, to develop a winning strategy in the market. The Result of this strategy is the construction and delivery of new solutions that resonates for all of commercial, ultimately driving membership growth and increasing persistency.
The successful candidate is a compelling business leader with a deep understanding of the commercial group insurance marketplace,with a demonstrated track of record of designing strategy and then delivering upon it. This role is a member of the New Product Development department.
Identify sub-segments with growth potential, ideate and develop products, and then drive new revenue by adding new capabilities targeted at those sub-segments.
Partner closely with the product design & implementation team to ensure that plan build-out and regulatory filings meet the needs of commercial business
Work with partner product management to include 3rd-party offerings and new technologies into Aetna's integrated solutions.
Analyze commercial business data to uncover unmet customer needs and then design new solutions.
Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape, from both a plan sponsor and consumer perspective, and then use it to build a solution strategy.
Ideate, develop and support products that include commercial medical and CVS
Develop rigorous strategic and economic business cases for all new solution offerings, including revenue, profit and market share targets.
Manage new solution development from concept gate thru launch gate.
Partner closely with commercial leadership to present our differentiated solutions.
Partner with the sales enablement and field management teams to deliver training and consultation on new offerings.
Assist with sales and customer meetings acting as a subject matter expert on our new products
Regularly present in front of customers and brokers on Aetna's solutions.
Supporting our vertical strategy and development
Work across Aetna's broad portfolio of products, including dental, vision, voluntary, stop-loss, and consumer-directed payment models to assemble these components into integrated solutions for our commercial business.
Minimum 8 years of demonstrated management and leadership success within a P&L or product organization
Strategic thinker with excellent judgment and business sense
Extensive experience and successful track record working in and building relationships within matrixed organizational structures
Problem solving skills ability to develop solutions to meet customer needs
Strong negotiation skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong work ethic and commitment to excellence
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
Flexible telework / in office-based schedule (can live near any office location)
