Sr Software Engineer - Layout (CSS & ICU4X Support), Mozilla, Portland, OR: Improve CSS style system, w/in Mozilla’s Gecko Engine & design solutions for efficient implementation w/in Firefox Browser Layout Architecture stack.

Write code, browser tests, & specs & build prototypes & reference implementations for Firefox browser in C++ & Rust. Convert user feedback into actionable bug reports, feature designs, & input into strategic direction of Web Platform to make Firefox more effective & efficient. Convert CSS Working Group specs into actionable feature designs, & new functionality to make Firefox effective, efficient, & web compatible.

Refactor existing code to optimize for Firefox performance. Repair & update automated test scripts to adapt to changes in codebase & verify that released code is functioning correctly & efficiently. Guide & mentor consultants & other developers on project basis, improving project quality & efficiency.

Bach in Comp Sci or rel field req'd. Must have 6 yrs exp. programming in C++. Of exp. req'd, must have 3 yrs exp. working in the Gecko browser engine or similar. Must also have 1 yr exp. programming in Python, Rust, & JavaScript & exp. working w/: (i) CSS Support (Shapes, Masking, & XBL Style Sheet); (ii) Unicode ICU4X & internationalization standards; & (iii) Bugzilla or comparable defect mgmt & workflow tool.
