Job Description:

FactSet is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Research & Advisory group on the Mobile team. The Mobile team focuses on delivering a wide variety of FactSet contents to our iOS and Android based applications. The team is in the middle of major transformation by rebuilding our mobile products with web technologies in order to bring our development scalability to the next level.

Some of the projects that this team works on to achieve these goals are:

Mobile front ends of FactSet's flag-bearer products that will allow our clients to access FactSet's contents while on the road.
Mobile-optimized web UI components to provide a seamless user experience on touch devices.
Web-to-native bridge for iOS and Android platforms for the web applications to be able to leverage device's APIs.
Web Service to support push notifications on mobile devices.
Analytical infrastructure and tools to collect the data of how clients interact with our applications and analyze the data to improve the applications.
Development framework that empowers web engineers to build full-fledged mobile applications

In this role you will:

Use a variety of technologies such as Vue.js, TypeScript, Node.js, GraphQL and mobile-specific ones, like Kotlin and Swift.
Collaborate with our product team to identify and implement solutions that bring direct value to our clients as well as with your peers
Partner with your peers and stakeholders to ensure software delivered is of the highest quality
Learn and follow Agile Software Development principles
Gain broader proficiency for the product and demonstrate ability to contribute to forward direction

Additionally, as part of the FactSet Engineering community, over time you will find opportunities to have broad impact across the department. For example, you may become a member of our Web Guidance Group, Architecture Review Board, or contribute to other cross team initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience working professionally as a Software Developer
Experience with full-stack Web Development
Ability to communicate effectively with peers within the team, and stakeholders within the organization
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a geographically diverse team

Additional Highly Desired Skills:

Experience with a modern JavaScript application framework, such as Vue.js, Angular, or React
Experience with TypeScript, NodeJS, Kotlin, Swift
Experience building mobile hybrid applications
Experience with Scrum, Kanban or Agile software development in general
Ability to mentor junior team members with direct feedback and thoughtful code review

VIEW JOBS Role/Department Description: FactSet's Quantitative Applications help institutional investors and researchers analyze historical data to validate whether certain quantitative factors predict market success. We're looking to update and expand our Quant offering to support the changing Quant workflow. Today's Quants are expected to source and explore more types of data, while simultaneously spending excess amounts of time on the technical and administrative aspects of data management. We must reduce the time they spend on operational demands and ensure they're getting the correct data at the right time. We're looking for a team player to join our Quant team to work on some exciting projects that will significantly enhance our Quant offering. We are rearchitecting our data management infrastructure using modern technologies to store data in a flexible way, so it can be easily shared with our clients and other FactSet applications. The data will seamlessly integrate with our Quant products, including our automated machine learning capabilities. We will also make the data easily accessible via tools that are already a part of the Quant's current workflow. To accomplish this, we have the Quant Research Environment, which is an open environment that gives clients programmatic access to FactSet data and FactSet applications. The Quant Research Environment is one of the fastest growing applications at FactSet.
