Sr Software Engineer, Edge & Iot (Python)

A growing company in the energy and utilities space is hiring for a fully remote and full-time Sr Software Engineer to join their growing Edge & IoT team. This is a key hire that will work within Linux using Python (and potentially other lower-level programming languages, e.g., Rust) to lead the productionalization of a new IoT platform. You'll straddle the line of programming "on device" and working within a cloud stack including Python, Django, K8s, and AWS just to name a few tools. 

Required: 

• 5+ years of experience using Python and the Linux operating system
• Ability to design distributed systems using Microservices in a resource constrained environment (edge devices and limited memory, CPUs, GPU capacity, etc.)
• Strong understanding of synchronous and asynchronous network communication, including REST APIs, gRPC, binary protocols, and distributed publish/subscribe messaging systems and protocols like MQTT and ZeroMQ
• Hands on knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP

Nice to have: 

• Experience with device layered security, i.e encryption (PKI), disk partitioning, os kernel libraries, and device drivers
• Knowledge of industry protocols 2030.5, DNP3, Modbus, and OPC-UA
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
