We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer in our Minnetonka, MN office.

The Sr Software Engineer will design, develop, modify, and implement software programming for products (internally and externally) with focus on surpassing customers' expectations by achieving high quality and on time delivery. The Sr Software Engineer is responsible for ensuring the overall functional quality of the released product on all required platforms and mechanisms. The Sr Software Engineer will help drive improvements to our development and testing practices in addition to improvements to systems.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and Development

o Complete design, development, implementation, and maintenance of multiple product modules/sub-systems on moderate issues

o Accountable for code quality

o Engineer and tune performance for enterprise high volume traffic

o Interact with team members, business partners and/or end users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications

o Works with and to remote staff and offshore resources

  • Leadership

o Develop high-level detailed requirements, architectural designs, and detailed functional designs for the software development of new applications and new features to existing applications

o Write and translate business and customer requirements, and integrate knowledge of customer operational environments

o Mentor others, participate in design, code reviews, and proactively identify risks

o Lead software quality assurance efforts to ensure products are adequately tested and meet all requirements

o Lead investigation and resolution of complex product issues with minimal technical risk

o Stay technically up-to-date of software development, computer engineering, and computer science trends in technology, methods, and processes

o Innovate, recommend, and drive product improvement using approaches such as new feature ideas, software architecture, and 3rd party integration

o Create project estimates and designs for customization requests and product improvements

o Drive process improvement initiatives for the software team by recognizing areas for improvement and working with others to develop and document process improvements

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering/Related field, 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering/Information Technology

  • Demonstrated Java skills, accessing SQL data

  • Extensive understanding of IT systems infrastructure and engineering practices

  • Hands on experience in web-based technologies

  • Strong knowledge of software design, development, debug and test practices

  • Experience working on complex products, solutions, and problems

  • Identify quality components and contribute to test approach for multiple testing responsibilities (i.e. functions, load, automation, performance, etc.)

  • Polished written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional team of business owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance


  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Proficiency with Rest APIs, Microservices, Spring boot

  • Experience working with and providing guidance to more junior members of the team

  • Skilled with data storage specific DSL

  • Ability to understand and resolve complex products, solutions, and problems

  • Create, document, and execute software designs which may involve complicated workflows or multiple product areas

  • Experience in exposing data points for monitoring and alerting purposes

  • Expertise in troubleshooting large scale distributed systems
