We are seeking a motivated Sr Software Engineer in our Minnetonka, MN office.

As a member of the development team for a leading, large-scale E-Commerce web application you will design, code, and unit test new features and modifications. You will be expected to quickly become proficient in the existing system and development environment. As a software engineer, you must be willing to help flush out loosely defined requirements while implementing solutions. You will be expected to implement projects in a timely manner, in conformance with coding standards and in compliance with defined specifications. You will be able to consistently follow existing patterns and implement new ones when appropriate.

What You'll Do:

  • You must be technically excellent, passionate about new opportunities, and have a great work ethic and track record of delivering new features or products.

  • You must be comfortable working in an open, collaborative environment where teamwork, hustle, and exceptional communication skills are required.

  • Design, code, and unit test new features and modifications

  • build (web services) services from scratch

  • refactor large code base systems

  • Triage, troubleshoot, and fix issues found in the code base

  • Communicate effectively in a fast-paced work environment

  • Develop robust, reliable, well-tested software

  • Research data quality issues

  • on-call rotation support

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • 7+ years software development experience

  • 5+ years object oriented analysis and design

  • 5+ years programming experience in Java

  • 3+ years SQL experience, Oracle preferred

  • 3+ years experience persistence frameworks such as Hibernate

  • 3+ year experience in Spring Boot, RESTful and SOAP Web services

  • 2+ years developing in a Unix / Sun OS / Linux environment

  • Experience architecting and designing web applications in an object oriented development environment

  • Experience with GIT or other source control tools

  • Experience coding JSP

  • Experience with HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, and CSS

  • Exposure to JSON and XML related technologies (XML, XSD, XML Schema, XSLT, XPath)

  • Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environment

  • Architectural-level understanding of these frameworks:

  • Hibernate

  • Tomcat

  • Webservice frameworks

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to deliver results in a complex, large development projects

  • Effective and efficient time management and problem solving skills

  • Ability to influence others in support of a common goal

  • Ability to translate business requirements into a technical design that can be understood and implemented by a cross-functional team

  • Strong team contribution and interaction; positive team member

  • Able to take several assignments at the same time and manage development activities according to priorities and schedules

Bonus Points:

  • Professional experience building complex software systems from scoping requirements through actual product launch, successfully delivering to customers

  • Knowledge of best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

  • Experience with Continuous Delivery pipelines using Jenkins or GoCD

  • Experience with automation/configuration management using Chef

  • Experience with the Elastic/ELK stack

  • Experience with NoSQL Storage solutions

  • Experience with Spring Boot

  • Experience with Solr

  • Experience as scrum master


  • B.S. Computer Science or related field

  • Java certification(s), desired

About The Role: Develop new manufacturing/test equipment and software used in the development and production of medical devices.
