Enterprise Networking accounts for more than $16B of business within Cisco. Although Cisco is a market leader in the space, it is a highly competitive market characterized by pricing pressures, several competitors and rapidly changing technology landscape.

What You'll Do

As a Sr. Software Business Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for leading software business model transformation for Enterprise Networking Business. You will lead software monetization strategy, which may include market assessment / segmentation, portfolio analysis, software consumption models (transactional, enterprise agreements, managed services contracts), hardware / software pricing, promotional offers, subscription renewals strategy, operational scalability and consistency and recommending competitive game play strategies. This role has high visibility and deep involvement from the senior leadership within Cisco.

The business strategy team reports to the SVP Product Management for Enterprise Networking. You will work closely with product management teams, sales, customer experience, finance and operations team to develop a well-thought out software strategy.

Who You Are

You are a seasoned expert who lives and breathes software subscription / SaaS business models. You have worked for enterprises that have transformed their business model into software subscriptions and operated at scale. You have a keen eye for detail and thoughtful, data driven approach to building hypothesis prior to drawing conclusions. You have the ability to lead through influence in order to get buy-in across the organization. You excel in transitioning from strategy formulation to execution, and can communicate your recommendations and plan of action in simple yet effective way to senior leadership.

Minimum requirements:

  • Experience in high-tech industry with significant experience around software subscriptions, SaaS business model, pricing / packaging, renewals etc

  • Thorough understanding of enterprise licensing agreements, managed services license agreements and other offer constructs

  • Management Consulting / Strategy background focused on software projects helpful

  • MBA from a top tier program

  • Strong analytical / business modeling skills

  • Strong leadership, presentation and written / verbal communication skills

  • Excellent teamwork and people skills

  • Prior networking experience helpful but not required

The role will also leverage their industry and market knowledge to identify unmet payments and risk needs and trends and proactively formulate strategies in response to these developments. Key Responsibilities * Strategic planning * Support development of GPBR 3-year plan in terms of payment market approaches, products, experiences, and capabilities * Ensure that strategy execution is consistent with original intent and manage change controls * Aggregate organization needs, requests, and plans to feed yearly financial and capacity planning and resource strategies * Special projects * Lead payments projects that require long-term viewpoints, cross-functional coordination, specific market expertise, or are on critical path * Be point person for solving complex strategic and analytic challenges that face GPBR and build frameworks and models to support grounded recommendations. * Partnership strategy * Support definition of long-term partner management strategies to optimize economics/ influence industry rules * Manage and conduct analysis of partner capabilities, joint offering, pricing, and terms, both in response to specific business needs and proactively identify opportunities for future optimization * Identify potential new partners to support strategic trajectory * Strategic investments * Identify potential acquisitions, equity stakes, or other forms of investment in companies that can accelerate GPBR strategy * Facilitate investment process in coordination with appropriate stakeholders * Market intelligence * Identify payments and risk needs and trends that span the market and integrate these needs into strategy formulation * Provide broad expertise in payments economics, offerings, and propositions across markets for solution teams, product teams and other stakeholders Key Skills * Problem solving: work with senior executives to identify, scope, and structure key strategy initiatives * Analytical thinking: exceptional quantitative analytical & data management skills * Relationship building: partner with cross-functional teams and become a go-to thought partner for key decision makers * Results orientation: biased toward action, great collaborator - constantly pushing toward clarity and delivery * Team player: thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing uncertainty * Entrepreneurialism: investigating and getting information required to get the job done will make you much more effective in this role * 80/20 balance: couple attention to detail with swift execution - we need to do things quickly, and we need to do them well * Senior-level communications: exceptional communication and organization skills Preferred Qualifications * Minimum of 7 years of related work experience – investment banking / consulting / business intelligence / strategy or related experience * Portion of the above experience applied within ecommerce, payments or risk industry * BS/BA and Master Degree preferred from top tier academic institutions eBay is a Subsidiary of eBay.
