The Sr. National Account Executive has the ability to help large national clients improve the lives of their employees and families, by delivering health benefits in new and innovative ways. This position is influential within Premera as you will be responsible for sales and account management activities for some of Premera's 5000+ employee national accounts. Your role is to understand your client's benefit philosophy and plan costs to help set multi-year strategy while balancing the strategic goals of Premera Blue Cross, and subsidiary companies. You will represent Premera in a direct, single-point-of-contact, relationship with both the client and their third-party consultants. You will lead staff and cross-function teams to provide consultation and flawless delivery in all aspects of sales, service and product; retention of targeted enrollment percentages; contribution to increased revenue through the offering of additional product lines; and ensuring exceptional strategic account management to all your accounts.
What you'll do:
Collaborate with cross functional teams such as RFP, Underwriting, Product, and Operations, to sell or retain business of key accounts, develop strategic working relationships with consultants, and facilitate achievement of sales and retention goals.
Develop and manage strategic sales plans to ensure achievement of company revenue, membership and contribution margin objectives.
Develop, implement, and continually assess the sales or account management quality to ensure effectiveness for accounts
Present proposals and negotiate as liaison between client, producer, and company.
Develop profitability analyses to ensure synergy of marketing and retention opportunities within identified territories.
Maintain strong relationships with producers, clients, and vendors supporting outsource functionality, in the interest of all parties, e.g., pharmacy management
Develop market growth and retention strategy to include in-group growth opportunities through additional product offering and product packaging.
Represent the company as a community leader through various organizations and activities.
Develop performance measurement tools, including status meetings and quarterly performance review and feedback sessions.
Collaborates with Product Strategy & Development to refine/ensure product customization achieves profitable growth and retention goals while meeting the needs of key accounts.
Serve as department liaison to other company internal teams to ensure smooth coordination of how initiatives will be rolled out to employer groups and members.
Develop and manage ongoing training plan for team to include continuous focus on executive presentation and consultation skills, product knowledge and strategic account relationship capabilities.
Manage annual budget related to sales team compensation, and relevant G&A.
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree or four (4) years' work experience
Ten (10) years' experience in the insurance industry, which includes the following:
Eight (8) years' direct customer relationship management and negotiation experience in a sales or producer capacity
Six (6) years' management experience.
Current agent's license or obtained within 60 days of employment.
Health insurance industry experience which includes direct customer relationship management and/or management experience.
Proven benefit consulting, sales, service and underwriting.
Experience selling to the 1,000+ group market is a plus!
Proficiency in underwriting/rating policies and renewal calculations.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
