Sr, Sales Engineer

The Senior Sales Engineer is responsible for supporting Unitrends sales activities in a presales technical role serving both Unitrends sales representatives and potential customers while acting as the technical liaison representing Unitrends products, development and professional services. Analyzes user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.
Compiles pre-sales document generation, proposals, statements of work, and supporting documentation.
Works as part of the Unitrends sales team to formulate winning strategies as it relates to prospect requirements utilizing Unitrends methodologies, technical solutions, education, and services.
Provide technical qualification based on customer assessment.
Deliver presentations to prospect technical/management teams to articulate Unitrends Products and Services value proposition.
Functions as sales team liaison to internal Unitrends organizations professional services, engineering and operations.
Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures, identify problems, and learn specific input and output requirements such as forms of data input, how data is to be summarized, and formats for reports.
Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify Unitrends solutions.
Prepares workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail operations to be performed by equipment and Unitrends programs and operations to be performed by personnel.
Conducts studies pertaining to development of new solutions to meet current and projected needs.
Prepares time and cost estimates for completing projects.
Signs off on technical feasibility of Unitrends solutions in customer environment.

Proven experience in a technical pre/post sales role supporting the open systems market place in a vendor or consulting environment.
Proven experience in systems analysis and/or programming required successfully supporting the sales effort in a pre-sales consultative role.
Experience with server consolidation, logical volume management, backup/restore, disaster recovery, software installation, and application development.
Comprehension of Heterogeneous physical/virtual/Cloud Operating Environments, (i.e.: UNIX, Linux and Novell, Windows, VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, AWS, Azure).
Ability to travel up to 50%
Bachelor's degree with emphasis of study in systems analysis and design of software solutions required; and a minimum of 3 years' experience in each of the following areas: multi-host hardware / software platforms, storage subsystems databases, internet architectures, and industry standard application architecture; networking, storage systems, DBMS and/or UNIX or NT platforms; implementing and planning backup/recovery and disaster recovery strategies; solution selling techniques to a diverse audience or equivalent combination of skills, education/training and/or experience.
