Job description

The Revenue team is responsible for ensuring the integrity of worldwide revenue measurement, reporting and forecasting by providing technical expertise, business sense, and a strong desire to improve processes and controls. The Senior Revenue Accountant will report to the Revenue Manager. This role will be responsible for maintaining and improving Ooma's revenue recognition model and the day to day management of revenue related functions. This person we will be a self-starter who enjoys working in a rapidly growing environment where she/he can make a substantial impact. This position will require effective communication skills and the ability to interact with senior management and various departments including Sales, Finance, Services and audit staff.


  • Responsible for revenue accounting for all channel related sales & the Residential product line

  • Calculate all reserves related to channel product sales revenue

  • Calculate and record revenue allocation related to channel product sales

  • Calculate sell-in and sell-through channel product sales revenue

  • Work closely with Sales to understand related sales programs to ensure that appropriate reserves are established

  • Calculate and establish supporting requirements for various metrics used for determining reserve levels for channels sales, e.g. return, rebate, and other related channel sales reserves

  • Responsible for all recording of revenue and account reconciliations related to channel product sales & Residential product line

  • Be responsible for cash applications and forecasting

  • Review channel sales transactions to ensure accurate financial flow between various systems and NetSuite modules

  • Support Sales by providing needed weekly or ad hoc reports related to channel sales

  • Responsible for all cash applications for the Company's collections

  • Be able to review revenue contracts for compliance with the company's revenue recognition policy and internal controls

  • Prepare quarter-end related audit schedules and flux analysis.

  • Provide detailed reporting and analysis, including the preparation of revenue-related support schedules for the 10K and 10Q reports.

  • Contribute to Sarbanes-Oxley implementation effort, including supporting walk-throughs, developing and supporting policies, procedures and maintaining adequate internal controls.

  • Assist with ad hoc accounting and financial projects as requested.

Desired Skills and Experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

  • 7+ years of accounting operations experience

  • Experience in new revenue recognition standard (ASC 606) is a must

  • Big 4 & accounting operations experience preferred

  • Excellent system skills and data mining

  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, able to balance multiple tasks in time sensitive situations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • NetSuite and Salesforce a plus
