The Sr. Reservoir Engineering Technician performs advanced technician duties under the direction of the Director of Reservoir Engineering & Technology, primarily focused on supporting annual corporate reserve and budget processes, assisting Reservoir Engineers with complicated specialized projects, maintaining complex databases, which act as a backbone for many departments, and providing general engineering tech support for corporate reservoir and reserve functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the position that are most important to get the job done.

Responsible for maintaining and updating all corporate ARIES SQL databases, changing database structures as needed to support requests from end-users;Ensures all data flowing through ARIES SQL databases is accurate and generate/maintain automated import processes for databases to improve speed and efficiency of data flow;Act as primary engineering tech for both Wattenberg and Delaware Basin reservoir engineers, requiring frequent communication and collaboration on specialized projects involving multiple departments;Function as primary technician on all Year-End Reserve work taking sole responsibility for all ARIES work required to complete final databases;Generate final Year-End and Bank Redetermination databases for distribution to third parties;Upon request, construct specialized databases used for engineering analysis projects;Build and maintain Excel spreadsheet tools to assist with complex SEC reserve calculations in support of SMOG/FAS69;Create and maintain procedural documentation for all corporate Reserve audit controls, processes and procedures;Assist engineers with PDP declines as needed and generate production volume profiles for use in annual budget process, hedging, etc.;Maintain corporate ARIES type curve database for company reference and archival of historical inputs;Mentor and train less experienced technicians as needed;Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be required at the direction of the Director of Reservoir Engineering & Technology;Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

The specific minimum competencies required for job performance.

Advanced knowledge in:ARIES;Microsoft Access;Microsoft Excel;Functional knowledge in:SEC Reserves;Decline curves;Oil & Gas operations;Petroleum economics (discounted cash flow);SQL;Spotfire;Ability to perform mathematical calculations;Self-starter able to multi-task and to manage multiple deadlines;Can anticipate problems and proactively seek to minimize impact;Process oriented with strong attention to detail;Excellent verbal and written communication skills;Able to translate complex technical requests into effective datasets and/or reports;Sets own goals, and participates in developing team goals and determining methods to meet these objectives;Performs all job duties in an independent and professional manner with minimal supervision;Serves as resource to others in the resolution of exceedingly complex problems and issues.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum level of education, experience, and certifications required to perform the job.

Bachelor's degree preferred, associate or technical degree considered;8+ years' experience working in the oil & gas industry as an engineering technician;5+ years' experience working with ARIES.

The Senior Reservoir Engineer is responsible for corporate level reservoir and reserve engineering support of PDC's Wattenberg asset. Duties include supporting year-end SEC reserve processes, generating and maintaining type curves, maintaining large PDP decline dataset, technical analysis of reservoir parameters and well results, in addition to other complex reservoir and reserve engineering tasks. The Senior Reservoir Engineer will be required to focus heavily on teamwork and collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure constant alignment with the Company's corporate strategy. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of the position that are most important to get the job done. Work closely with Wattenberg asset to develop and maintain type curves for various corporate processes – Budget, Reserves, etc.;Manage Wattenberg PDP declines and coordinate with Wattenberg Production team to ensure alignment and accuracy of production profiles;Lead asset-level economic lookback processes and deliverables, communicate findings to asset and corporate-level personnel;Coordinate Wattenberg Year-End SEC reserve processes, ensuring controls are completed and documented, and submit deliverables for integration into databases;Provide engineering support for bi-annual Bank Redeterminations and work closely with Treasury to support mortgaging and hedging as needed;Create and manage in-depth reservoir engineering studies, inclusive of RTA, PVT, volumetrics, modeling, etc., to assess various reservoir characteristics and inform corporate strategy of noteworthy findings;Maintain FEKETE Harmony project composed of Wattenberg horizontal wells, working to understand multi-bench drainage spacing while working closely with P&D, Well Execution and Production asset teams to ensure accurate assumptions;Participate in Type Curve Committee to coordinate best-practices on economic evaluations and type curve generation within the corporation;Maintain strong teamwork oriented relationship with Wattenberg operation teams to stay apprised of technical learnings and work to integrate their implications into corporate strategy;Coordinate with Marketing and Midstream to ensure accurate modeling of pricing, shrinks, yields, etc. within corporate databases;Attend technical conferences focused on innovation and technologies and report interesting findings to the Company;Supervise junior Reservoir Engineer, allotting time for mentorship, development efforts, performance management;Complete complex engineering projects as directed by Director of Reservoir Engineering and Technology ensuring highly polished, accurate and professional products are delivered;Demonstrate commitment to safety and environmental compliance in all job aspects.
