Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to the overall advancement of molecular biology research at Kite Pharma

Plan and execute cloning strategies to support genetic modification of human T cells

Manage timelines and deliverables

Effectively communicate plans and results in both oral and written form

Ability to work in a highly dynamic team environment

Coordination of tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization and planning

Effectively execute and interpret experiments in line with project timelines and goals

Self-motivated, creative, and independent

Positive interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with individuals from a variety of levels and functions.

Record keeping

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

BS, or MS in Molecular Biology or related field with 0-5 years experience. Previous experience in Biotech field preferred.

Direct hands on experience in Molecular Biology, cloning and sequencing of vectors.

In-depth understanding of:

Cloning strategies

Primer design and PCR

DNA manipulation

DESIRED KEY COMPETENCIES

Proficiency in vector design and cloning techniques (Golden Gate, Gibson and In-fusion assembly)

Proficiency in sequence analysis (SnapGene and/or Vector NTi)

Experience with lentiviral vectors preferred

Experience in additional molecular biology techniques, including SDS-PAGE, and Western Blot beneficial.

Ability to execute on Kite's mission and values.

In this role, you will play an important function in bridging early in vitro research to preclinical in vivo work through the production and characterization of CAR-T cells. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Be part of a growing, cross-functional team which is critical to the successful advancement of multiple internal research programs. * Process human leukopaks and apply multiple in vitro characterization assays in order to establish, maintain and supply human T cells for preclinical studies. * Work closely with research groups to develop protocols, playing a key role in the production and characterization CAR-T cells for preclinical in vivo studies. * Optimize existing or explore alternative conditions for T cell enrichment, activation, transduction and expansion. * Generate and present in vitro characterization data internally and to research teams. Preferred qualifications: * BS or MS in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or a closely related field. * Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred. * Prior experience with cell therapy or viral gene delivery is highly desired. * Strong cell culture and aseptic technique, as well as experience with the cultivation of primary cells. * Immunology background, with experience in multi-color flow cytometry and phenotypic analysis utilizling appropriate technology (FlowJo, Prism, Excel etc.) to create and distribute analysis of data is preferred. * Experience in the characterization of T cell function in vitro through cytotoxicity, proliferation and cytokine production assays utilizing ELISA, or Luminex-based assays is highly valuable. * Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain detailed documentation of research activities. * Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able embrace change, while working to produce key deliverables in accordance with project timelines. * LI-RK1 IND-123 Kite is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the development of innovative cancer immunotherapies with a goal of providing rapid, long-term durable response and eliminating the burden of chronic care.
