As the Senior Reliability Engineer reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will provide engineering support for the optimization and maintenance of mechanical systems at the San Diego Plant. The responsibilities include mechanical safety and reliability, technical consultation, analytical engineering, planning, supervision, and support for stores, procurement, and troubleshooting. You will work with a great deal of independence to meet objectives. The maintenance reliability engineer maintains and implements plans that result in upgrades to functionality and reliability of the plant's production systems while assuring that installations comply with regulations, good engineering practice, and long-range plans.

You will:

  • Manage the condition monitoring programs including vibration Analysis and Tribology programs

  • Develop strategies aimed at improving equipment availability and reducing life-cycle cost

  • Develop detailed Preventative and Predictive Maintenance procedures

  • Manage the Mechanics' and Instrument Technicians' training program

  • Implement and support the environmental, health, and safety management system.

  • Trouble shoot equipment, monitor performance and recommend repairs and upgrades to improve availability

  • Monitor the work performance of multi-craft maintenance crews for quality and productivity and will coordinate with contractors and equipment vendors for repairs and replacement

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Over 5 years of experience with at least 3 years of Maintenance Reliability experience including Failure Mode Effects Analysis and Mean Time between Failures.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  • Familiarity with standard operating and maintenance practices for piping systems, rotating equipment, pressure vessels, heat transfer equipment, pump fans, separators and other process installations

  • Demonstrated project management ability

  • Strong and effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Preferred Qualifications and Other

Skills:
  • Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing experience is a plus.

  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.

Under the direction of Production Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for directing the shift team activities in the San Diego Plant. Additionally, he/she is responsible for assisting in meeting all of the site's goals including: volume, quality, cost, safety, environmental, cGMP, training, and personnel. Supervises and coaches the activity of production shift teams including up to 30 operators per shift in fermentation, recovery, cogen, utilities and mill room areas. Have contributory responsibilities for payroll, raw materials, and supplies. Supervisor also is responsible for site security and emergency situations on their shifts. Implements and supports the environmental, health, safety, and security (EHS&S) management system and the J.M. Huber Corporation EH&S Policy. ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for the following on their shift: EHS&S Consistently have awareness of potential safety and environmental concerns. Researches subjects of interest, and develops safety meetings based on those topics. Participates in safety and environmental programs and demonstrates an unimpeachable example in compliance to them. Consistently works to ensure department-wide compliance with all EHS&S programs. Operational Ensure all fermentors and seeds are filled and inoculated to meet production needs. Ensure recovery lines are maintained at plan rates and on-stream times. Ensure planned product is packed and properly prepared for shipping. Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure plant priorities are being met. Ensure all procedures are being followed. Train, develop, and motivate employees. Assist department manager with additional tasks as assigned. Personnel Ensure that all personnel have the proper tools including communication that are needed to perform their jobs. Clearly and consistently upholds work standards for the people being supervised. Provides guidance as to the quality and quantity of work that employees are expected to maintain – this includes adherence to SOP's, cGMP compliance, safety guideline assignments are clear, and operators are aware of any operational issues. Ensure the workload is properly distributed within the shift teams. Makes last minutes decisions on staffing to cover call-offs. Good Manufacturing Practices Ensure all cGMP policies and procedures are followed. Housekeeping Ensure the plant is kept in clean condition. Hold employees accountable to ensure their respective work areas are clean during and at the end of each shift. DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent; college degree a plus * Good communication skills (written & verbal) which are used to build a energized and cohesive team * Previous manufacturing experience a must * Ability to effectively interact with all levels of organizational personnel * Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute effectively * Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under various deadlines * Computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point * Must be willing and able to rotate 8 or 12-hour shifts (required) * Self motivated with the ability to learn in a face paced environment WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical/mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
