WHAT CAN TOU TELL ME ABOUT THIS POSITION?
We have an opportunity on the Runoff Reinsurance Accounting Team. This team is responsible for the administration of reinsurance (premiums and claims) ceded under Runoff Reinsurance programs. These reinsurance programs can often be complex and require strong working relationships with internal business partners (Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, IT and Financial reporting) as well as external business partners (Reinsurers, Brokers, TPA's). The ideal candidate would have familiarity with reinsurance and with The Hartford's financial systems (ProCede, General Ledger, BACIS), be a self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team, have excellent analytical and problem solving skills, possess strong communication skills, and strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
Administer the financial requirements for moderately complex to complex reinsurance programs as assigned
Interpret complex reinsurance contracts in order to accurately set up contract terms in our financial systems to ensure accurate premium calculation, detection, and billing
Perform complex financial allocations based on contract terms
Work closely with the Reinsurance Runoff team and managers to ensure accurate and timely processing and adherence to production deadlines
Take ownership of assigned treaties and act as the primary point of contact for external reinsurers, auditors, third party administrators and internal management
Develop a solid understanding of reinsurance principles
Develop thorough knowledge of insurance and reinsurance accounting
Facilitate cash application and perform reconciliations
Participate in both internal and external financial reporting
Prepare accurate and timely financial analysis and reports
Work across the Reinsurance Asset Management (RAM) team to ensure that all related processes are fully supported
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial organization is preferred
Reinsurance or insurance operational experience preferred
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with automated financial systems
Proven ability to work with all levels of staff and management
Ability to work as an individual contributor or part of a team
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience with contract interpretation, claims, billing and audits
Familiarity with: ProCede, General Ledger & BACIS systems is preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and various financial reporting tools
