This role is responsible for ensuring the company is adequately prepared to carry out operational duties in a safe and prudent manner. Compliance focus is essential to ensure that all applicable regulations, codes and practices are being addressed and maintained. A strong collaborative approach to implementation of programs or initiatives is essential in this roles success within the organization. This position must act as a strong resource to internal stakeholders to ensure that individuals and operational teams achieve optimal health and safety performance.
This role is considered a primary point of contact for coaching/mentoring on health and safety-related topics, along with providing directional focus and leadership. As a Sr Safety Advisor, this position does not take direct responsibility for health and safety issues. This position will work on a collaborative basis with field and corporate teams to identify, resource, audit and resolve identified health and safety issues.
This role will be located in the greater
Minneapolis/ St. Paul area. Consideration may be given to outside Minneapolis/ St. Paul area along existing pipeline corridor. The role will work on the Alliance Pipeline entity as an Enbridge employee.
Provide leadership, direction, training, expertise, development and implementation of health and safety program to internal stakeholders and contractors.
Act as point of contact for local, state or federal regulatory groups.
Participate and manage internal field audits and inspections.
Provide operational health and safety support for field activities.
Act as coach/mentor/resource regarding safety issues to Field Leadership Team.
Conduct /facilitate incident investigations as required.
Track and follow-up on outstanding issues providing continual communications on progress.
Develop, implement and maintain health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Active member of any Health and Safety Committees and supporting the area HS Representatives.
Support any training roll outs for Health and Safety Initiative.
Provide health and safety performance feedback for employee-partners and contractors.
Support corporate Health and Safety initiative as assigned
Conducts health and safety performance audits to ensure compliance with Alliance practice/procedures and regulatory requirements.
Primarily serves as the senior level advisor to respective region but further provides leadership and expertise in the development of broader safety programs, standards and requirements.
Works independently to resolve complex technical issues and also network with stakeholders as required achieving desired outcomes.
Leads and supports initiatives, objectives and issues having the potential to impact worker and process safety and the success of the safety management system, programs and processes within respective region.
Works with Regional Leadership to drive safety culture development through the development and implementation of targeted plans and activities.
Bachelor or Associate degree in Occupational Health and Safety or closely related field
Minimum 7 years safety and health experience within the oil and gas industry. Pipeline experience will be an asset.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for applicable jurisdictions.
General knowledge and experience with current health and safety program practices/approaches.
Ability to effectively work within a group and problem solve.
Display a concise decision making approach, with focused planning methods.
Valid License, with a drivers abstract, promoting a safe driving record.
Strong computer knowledge and general application use including web access.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel applications
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including an ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Excellent time management skills and ability to work autonomously
Passport for travel outside United States
