How will you make an impact?

Leads team in development of Western blot imaging and reagents products. Provides strong technical and strategic leadership for new product development. Supervises team of 5-7 direct reports.

What will you do?

  • Leads the R&D team responsible for development of Western blot imaging instruments and reagents

  • Manages a group of 5-7 direct reports

  • Responsible for executing the Western blot imaging & reagent product roadmap

  • Provides techical leadership on Western blot reagent development

  • Provides strong techical guidance to hardware and software engineers for Western blot imaging instrument development projects

  • Sets the scientific direction and strategy in the area of Western workflow for the company with marketing

  • Builds business/technical case analyses with product management. Makes proposals with company/divisional scope to management

  • Contributes well-considered ideas for new products and identifies new technologies of significant value to the company/division

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of relevant scientific fields and techniques and advises senior management on complex technology issues related to reagents and instrumentation

  • Oversees and reviews technical methods for production, testing, and use of new products

  • Provides leadership on business development and technology transfer activities

  • Supports other internal departments such as product management, manufacturing, technical support, and product testing

  • Promotes a culture of product and process innovation

  • Gives effective scientific, financial, and business presentations internally and externally

  • Serves as primary author of scientific publications (posters/papers) and presents at scientific conferences and external customer sites

  • Represents Company externally to commercial and academic partners

How will you get here?

Education

  • Minimum of a Bachelors of Science degree with 10 years experience. Preferred MS degree with 10+ years experience or Ph.D. with 8+ years of experience

Experience

  • Preferred 5+ years of relevant industrial experience

  • Preferred 5+ years of management experience (people and/or project management)

  • Strong background in reagent development, including Western blotting and other relevant life science fields

  • Strong background in biochemical and biological methods and method development, design of experiments, development and application

  • Experience with instrument and software development preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Ability to work with cross functional teams (biologists, engineers, software)

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to manage projects and mentor direct reports

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills through formal and informal discussions with peers, supervisor, and upper management

  • Effective in using word processing, graphing, presentation and spreadsheet programs

  • A demonstrated track record of developing & launching commercial products (instruments and/or reagents) in the life science area is desirable

Be a good steward in promoting Salesforce.com awareness to all supporting departments, such as Business Development and Project Management. * Work closely with EU Business Development Estimator/Associate role, in ensuring that the PCI Clinical quoting process is harmonized, and where not harmonized working on initiatives with EU staff to ensure global Harmonization as much as is practical within the scope of the role. * Assess and initiate business process improvements with a view to the continuous improvement of the proposals team, proposals preparation (costing or presentation), global practices and working with the International proposals teams. * Work with the Business Development team and customers to understand the scope of the clinical opportunity we are reviewing. * Work with the Clinical Services leadership and Business Development team to determine the strategic approach to an opportunity. * Work with Engineering to understand what equipment, tooling, production rates, and draft package dimensions PCI proposes for the project. * Work with the Production Process and Systems Engineering to understand the suggested production rates that optimize the staffing requirements for the packaging processes. * Work with Purchasing to understand material costs for each packaging opportunity. * The role will work closely with the Graphics and Engineering team to develop shipper designs and pallet patterns for new projects. * The role will assist with transitioning new business awards from the Business Development team to the Project Management team. * This position may require overtime and/or weekend work. * Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules. * Attendance to work is an essential function of this position * Performs other duties as assigned by Manager/Supervisor.
