We are currently hiring a Senior R&D Engineer to support NPI projects within our Vascular Access franchise in Southington, CT. This newly created position will grow and deploy systems engineering capabilities to assist our existing Product Line Engineering team to identify and manage product requirements through Voice of the Customer interaction, Stakeholder engagement and Risk Management activities for the development of world-class vascular access medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Systems Engineering Plan - based on scope of project, identify systems engineering tasks, deliverables and milestones

  • Stakeholder Requirements - refine customer requirements into top-level system requirements that form the basis of system validation and input to systems requirements development

  • System Requirements - based on Stakeholder Requirements, develop overall system requirements;

  • System Architecture Definition - define top-level system components and interfaces; allocate system requirements to architecture components

  • Risk Management Plan - scope of risk management activities to be performed

  • Hazard Analysis - identify product risks, analyze and evaluate each risk, identify risk controls and verify risk controls;

  • Risk Management Report - summarize product's risk profile and risk acceptability; During subsystem development, the systems engineering function is responsible for explicating, correcting and improving system specifications as needed by subsystem developers. Once the subsystems are complete, systems engineering supports the integration of subsystems and final system evaluation and transfer to manufacturing. On projects involving changes to fielded product, the senior systems engineer participates in change impact analysis and updates to the system specifications. All members of the system engineering team are expected to continuously grow their systems engineering skills through team experience/best practice sharing and other more formal training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as mechanical or biomedical engineering or similar

  • 5-8 years of experience or 3-6 years with an advanced degree.

  • Medical device experience preferred but experience in other regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive acceptable as well.

  • The candidate would have experience in developing safety critical products or systems.

We are currently hiring a R&D Mechanical Engineer II in Southington, CT. The R&D Mechanical Engineer II will be responsible for providing R&D support for sustaining activities to ensure product changes still meet the design requirements. This will be done through close working relationships with Operations, Sourcing, and Marketing and may require updating of design documentation along with development and delivery of Design Verification activities (test method development/fixture design/DV plans/test protocols/reports). Duties & Responsibilities * Performs engineering work requiring full competency in all conventional aspects of engineering. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and the substantial adaption of standard engineering techniques, procedures and requirements. Plans and coordinates detailed phases of engineering actions for part of a project. * Conducts engineering activities of intermediate scope or degree of difficulty. This could include medium – large components/system, processes associated with a medium or large project. * Performs component and assembly detailed design. * Performs assignments independently with limited supervision as to expected results. * Conducts design testing. * Prepares documentation associated with engineering activities * Determines resolution of intermediate technical issues as needed and assures that technical work meets specified requirements. * Understands and follows requirements of SOPs. * Contributes to corrective action development and alternatives. * May coach and develop entry level engineers and engineering interns. The Individual * Minimum BS Degree Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering * 2-5 years of experience or 1-2 years with an advanced degree. * Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the engineering field.
