Description
Job Purpose: The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for determining production standards for Rochester's products by establishing and maintaining quality control systems, processes and product quality requirements. The Senior Quality Engineer ensures that the product meets the acceptance criteria and monitors quality assurance and controls. The Senior Quality Engineer will lead to provide solutions to process and product quality issues. They will work to identify defects, determine the causes of those defects and implement problem-solving techniques. The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for working closely with Customers, Suppliers and internally to ensure 100% quality of all component parts and materials.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering)
Engineering or equivalent work experience in Manufacturing.
Possess strong oral, written, and listening communication skills, and team building skills.
A minimum of seven years' experience in a manufacturing or field service environment.
Strong analytic problem solving skills, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, APQP and MSA
Demonstrable knowledge of optical inspection machine, calipers, micrometers, indicators, optical comparator, and height gauges
Must be able to interpret drawings and specifications
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Must be able to collaborate across cross-functional departments
Must be able to work with minimal supervision
Preferred:
10+ years of experience in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, EN ISO/IEC 80079-34:2018 and IATF 16949 based quality systems
Certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 Internal Auditor.
DMAIC (Blackbelt/Greenbelt) training, Lean manufacturing experience, problem solving training (8D), and strong facilitation skills
New Product Introduction (NPI) experience
AQC or CQE certification desired.
APQP Expertise
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in monitoring performance of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 Management Systems
Participate, lead and implement robust problem-solving techniques to prevent non-conformances
Interpret and implement quality assurance standards and procedures.
Assist and support manufacturing with various quality process control activities.
Inspect and analyze inspection reports to determine adherence to drawings, specifications, and to troubleshoot failure mode.
Prepare sample submissions (PPAP) to include final product inspection on PPAP, Engineering, Production Trial Run, and other samples, within required time frame
Monitor and report monthly metrics for core responsibilities
Ensure Plant Process Controls and Customer Requirements are implemented
Perform Goods Inwards inspections and distribute Reports
Collect and compile statistical quality data (SPC)
Assist Engineering with qualification and validation of new or changed tooling, fixtures, and parts.
Provide documentation and reports as needed regarding QA issues
Produce reports of material non-conformances found in the product
Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities
Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues, and communicate results within agreed time frames
Participate and provide Internal & External Audit support
Conduct Internal Audits and other quality assurance activities to plan
Track defects, test results, or other regularly reported quality control and assurance data
