We have an opportunity for a Sr level Quality Engineer supporting the Sunnyvale Mechanical Manufacturing Center (MMC) Quality Assurance organization. The MMC QA team is responsible for providing Quality Engineering and Inspection support to multiple manufacturing areas including Solar Array, Mechanisms, Composites, Structures and Antennas.

Your role as Sr Quality Engineer will include:

o Audit, monitor, and support manufacturing processes for compliance with requirements and keeping a watchful eye for risk opportunities

o Participate in gathering of QA Engineering metrics gathering and compiling for higher level review.

o Act as a POC/ Technical SME for Quality Engineering issues when the Lead Quality Engineer is unavailable

o Routinely communicate with MMC counterparts, and proactively engage in issue resolution

o Participate in nonconformance investigations and processing, MRB decisions, root cause analysis, and closed loop corrective action while identifying potential systemic causal relationships

o Promote personnel and product safety within the work areas

o Provide training to other Quality Assurance personnel as needed, and support the needs of Quality Inspectors on the floor

o Your activities will provide quality engineering bench strength and provide support to various areas in the Sunnyvale Production Quality Assurance (PQA) Organization as required

o Position requires a full commitment to support overtime, odd shifts (as required), and On Call requirements as dictated by operational needs.

o Bring value to the team by promoting Operational Excellence through proactive engagement, attention to detail, process discipline, as well as applying real-time lessons learned and stopping (seek to understand) when something doesn't seem right. Work with the teams to identify and implement solutions that will allow the team to move forward while meeting requirements (team player).

Typically employees in this level position will have ~ 5+ years related experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a technical discipline (e.g., engineering field) or equivalent discipline (e.g., math, physics, chemistry, etc.).

  • Previous experience working in an assembly, integration and test, or manufacturing / test environment in an engineering role

  • Knowledge and familiar with quality processes

  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing work instructions: hardware build instructions

  • Demonstrated experience working in multi-functional teams

  • Advanced Q-Note or anomaly documentation processing knowledge including root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Familiarity with Quality metrics and creating reports.

  • Proven ability to effectively capture and report technical into SAP Q-notes or M-notes, and/or into chart packages per management request.

  • Willingness to support odd shifts, weekends and holidays as required.

  • US Citizenship required

The Senior Engineer will be capable of working on complaint investigations with limited supervision. He or she will exhibit an ability to interact with co-workers in a way that facilitates sharing of information and timely resolution to complaint investigations. The Senior Engineer shall be capable of performing Risk assessments and trending of complaint data as required. A Day in the Life Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned. * Execute product Inspection and test plans on bio-hazard product. * Review product complaint investigations and lead root cause analysis on products returned from the field. Determine the need for further investigations and document rationales when no further investigation is required. * Develop procedures/processes, tools, techniques to aid in product complaint investigations. * Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product. * Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. * Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. * Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. * Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. * May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
